Hair care: A nourishing hair mask..

I thought I will share with you guys a home made hair mask that I try to use at least 4 times a month. It gives your hair much needed nourishment and shine. Lemme warn you that it’s gonna look really gross but come on, it’s like a fertilizer for your hair 🙂

Things you will need :

Half a ripe Avocado – It contains essential oils in them which helps repair damaged hair. It helps soften your hair and make it shinier. Note: eat the other half :).. It’s really good for your skin.

1 Egg yolk – Hair is primarily composed of proteins. When you give more protein to your hair, it becomes healthier. Egg yolk is rich in proteins and that’s why it’s a vital part of this hair mask. It also helps seal in moisture.

1 tbsp Olive oil – It helps to deep condition your hair and helps hydrate your hair.

First, using a spoon, scoop out the ripe avocado flesh into a bowl. Then mash it up so that there are no lumps in it. You can either do it with the help of a fork (like how I do) or put it in a blender for about 2 secs. Then add the egg yolk to it, along with the olive oil.

Now mix it all to make a smooth, creamy mixture.

Next, section your hair and apply this mixture to the scalp and then through the entire length of your hair. I have pretty long hair (but it’s not thick) and so the quantity that I have mentioned is perfect for me. If you have really thick hair, then you might want to increase the quantity you take to make this mask.

You can have this hair mask on for about 30 mins or more. I usually have it on for an hour. To help along the nourishment process, wrap a warm towel around your hair or wear a hair cap. After that wash your hair using a mild shampoo. No need to use a conditioner.

I hope you guys try this mask. If you do, let me know the result. Also do you have any home made recipes for hair masks?. Do share with me 🙂

  1. hey ive moved to abu dhabi 3 months before..since then facing huge hairfall…condition is this hairs are more on floor than on ma scalp…what to do…is it due to the presence of chlorine in tap water…what to do???pls suggest..

    • Hi Nayna! Yes, it might be the change in water. Apply oil on a regular basis. Massage your scalp well. I have done a deep conditioning mask here on my blog, which has mayonnaise in it. Do search for that post and try doing it :). Hope your hairfall becomes lesser..
