Review : Iftar at Nando’s, Jumeirah!

Hey guys!

I’m back with another Iftar review. This was at Nando’s in Jumeirah Lakes, Dubai. It’s a really gorgeous place, with lots of greenery, beautiful landscaping and a fountain. It really has got a good vibe going there. Pair it with good food and you have got a perfect evening!

I love Nando’s. I’ve been there several times but it’s my first time being in this particular branch located in Jumeirah. Here is the Nando’s building and it’s entrance :

The interior is pretty special and has a welcoming atmosphere. The contemporary and beautiful South African art is definitely eye catching. The seating is comfy. The lights are beautiful ☺. Instant relaxation mood is set, once you enter there.

Paintings

I arrived pretty early before Iftar time (since I like to get my pix when not many people are around). My 3 year old was getting restless by then. Nando’s staff are always so friendly and thoughtful. They got him crayons & a paper with pictures in it to color in. That instantly got his attention and he was doodling away with joy 😊. They also gave him a balloon.

Coloring

Not part of the Iftar menu, but the staff got my son a kiddie chicken burger, fries and mildly spicy rice to keep him happy & fed. They are just so amazing!

Chicken burger

The Nando’s Iftar will start diners off with dates and water to break the fast, followed by Hummus and pita bread, rounded off with a delicious, flame-grilled PERi-PERi full chicken, chicken Espetada, four chicken wings, served with Mediterranean salad, PERi-PERi chips, PERi-PERi wedges, spicy rice and coleslaw. This is a meal for 4 persons, at just AED 199.

Nandos menu

They are also offering a delicious meal deal for two to celebrate the Holy Month of Ramadan. Diners can break their fast with water and dates, Hummus and pita bread, full chicken, PERi chips, rice and coleslaw for the extra special price of just AED 119.

Nandos chicken

Extremely yummy, melting-in-your-mouth marinated, flame-grilled chicken 😋

Espetada

Espetada, which has five pretty big and filling pieces of grilled chicken.

Overall, the Iftar menu is yummy and filling. I had one issue though and I need to say it here. The restaurant was packed by Iftar time. There wasn’t a single seat that was unoccupied. I think there were 3 serving staff. Once the time came to break fast, there was such a rush to serve people.

They seemed like they were unprepared for that many people to come in. I got my food a cool 25 mins after the time to break fast 😐. But, I actually felt bad for the staff. I’m not even kidding, they were literally flying across the room trying to serve soo many people. This was a media event that I was a part of. Maybe that’s why there were so many people. But with my previous experiences at Nando’s, I’d say the wait time isn’t that much and the staff are as always friendly and attentive. Please read my review of a dinner at Nando’s. That was in Al Qasba, Sharjah, which happens to be my favorite Nando’s branch.

Nando’s always so thoughtfully gives a goodie bag when going there for a review. They never fail to surprise. This time, I got a Peri-Peri garlic sauce, a PERInaise (which is a mayonnaise) & an adorable Nando’s chicken shaped USB. Love it!. I’ve been adding the sauce and mayo to my home cooked chicken ever since. They are such a great addition to just about anything. The mayonnaise squeezy bottle has this leak proof kinda lock and it’s just so convenient & mess free to use it!.

Goodies

If you love Nando’s, do check their Iftar out. The menu is designed to be pretty affordable. If you try it out, let me know how you liked it, dearies 😊

The Most Popular Fermented Skin Care Products!

Fermenting ingredients isn’t a new concept. In fact, our ancestors have used this method as a means to preserve food and drinks when modern preservation techniques have yet to be introduced. By adding microorganisms into the product, it then releases a series of enzymes which breaks it down further for easier digestion.

Some of the most popular fermented ingredients that are still heavily consumed today include wine, yogurt, and various pickled vegetables and fruit. Today, modern innovations have taken the benefits of fermentation by applying its very principle into certain ingredients which can be readily used in skincare products like Memebox.

By adding probiotics and adjusting the fermentation process, these enzymes readily break down these ingredients into a component that can be easily absorbed by the skin without adding artificial ingredients. This makes fermented skin care products safer and more ideal for people with sensitive skin.

If you are looking to hydrate your skin as well as minimize signs of ageing, adding a fermented skin care product into your routine can add various benefits into your skin barrier and give you stunning results. Here are some other fermented skin care products to choose from:

1. Rice

Rice

Beauty products made from fermented rice water have just started to gain popularity although it has been considered a staple in various Asian beauty regimens for centuries. The reason why fermented rice water has gained popularity over the years is because many researchers noticed the soft and youthful looking hands of sake brewers and realized the amount of vitamins and amino acids these rice water derived from this process.

2. Green tea

Drinking green tea has been known to provide various health benefits. Some of which include improved better digestion, boosting brain cells, and lowering the chances of developing certain types of cancers. In skin care, cleansers that contain fermented green tea extract is considered a must-try for oily and acne-prone skin.

The reason for this is because fermented green tea extracts provide numerous skin care benefits like brightening and hydrating effects while removing certain impurities like sweat and dirt accumulated throughout the day. Additionally, green tea does not strip the skin of your natural oils so there is less chance of your skin producing more sebum than necessary.

3. Apple Cider Vinegar toner

Toners are an essential part of every skin care routine because it restores the normal pH levels of the skin, preventing it from becoming susceptible to dryness. When it comes to making your very own fermented toner, applying 1 part of Apple Cider Vinegar and 1 part filtered water into a bottle can be a great way to save money while also letting your skin enjoy its numerous benefits.

ACV is a simple byproduct of the fermentation of apples and has been known as a popular antiseptic and antibacterial solution for ages. Some of its benefits include restoring the natural pH of the skin, lightening sun spots, improving acne and acne scars, and removing excess oil and makeup that are difficult to remove.

4. Yogurt sheet masks

Yogurt is another fermented food source that provides the gut with good bacteria. It’s also loaded with calcium and is considered a great snack for those who are looking to improve their figures. As a skincare product, numerous sheet masks and DIY formulas containing yogurt are available due to the fact that it can improve the skin in numerous ways.

For dry skin, a weekly face mask of yogurt added with honey helps hydrate the skin while removing visible signs of ageing due to the lactic agent present in yogurt as well as the natural antibacterial properties of honey.

5. Red wine

Red wine

Aside from being a great partner for meals and a way to relax, using red wine as a skincare product can also help provide numerous anti-ageing benefits that help keep your skin looking young and healthy. While there have been numerous studies that show the benefits of consuming red wine, many experts also claim that using red wine as a DIY facial or topical solution restores our body’s collagen fibers which are responsible in keeping our skin firm.

Fermented skin care products provide numerous benefits because they are subjected to a special process that makes use of its natural ingredients. By limiting the amount of chemicals added, using these skin products help reduce the chance of developing dangerous side effects. While this may be true, people who are considering looking for certain items may still need to do a skin patch test or consult with their dermatologist just in case.

Five beauty products that are totally worth the money!

When considering which beauty products to buy, you might be wondering whether or not it’s worth it to spend more. Are less expensive products just as effective as their more expensive counterparts? You might be surprised to learn that when it comes to beauty products, sometimes spending more means getting better results.

Find out which beauty products are totally worth the money. From makeup and skincare to hair products, here’s the low down on products that you shouldn’t skimp on when it comes to finances.

Moisturizer

Moisturiser

When it comes to facial moisturizers, you’ll want a quality product that’s filled with nourishing ingredients. Some of the less expensive products on the market tend to have ingredients that can cause adverse effects including drying, acne, or even redness.

If you have oily skin, you’ll need a light moisturizer that’s free of oils and will be absorbed by the skin quickly. On the other hand, if your skin is very dry, you’ll want a hydrating moisturizer that will leave your skin looking dewy and radiant.

For your whole body, a moisturizer designed for the body is ideal, and, like your facial moisturizer, should be designed for your skin type.

Because of the many different factors that go into choosing a moisturizer, it’s perfectly fine to splurge on one that’s designed specifically for your skin.

Primers

There are dozens of types of primers on the market. There’s face primer, eye primer, and lip primer. There are color-correcting primers, primers with SPF, primers that prevent acne, cream primers, gel primers, and even powder primers. With so many different primers on the market, you might wonder, Which one do I need?

It’s wise to choose a quality primer that you can use over the entire face, but if you’re using cream shadows it’s good to invest in a good eye primer. Love red lipstick? You might want to invest in a quality lip primer, too.

When choosing a primer, again it’s important to know your skin type. There are primers that will hydrate, hide blemishes, brighten the skin, and tighten the pores. Understand what you need and choose a primer that will do more than add wear time to your makeup.

Foundation

Foundation

Foundation is one of those products that you can waste a lot of money on if you don’t get one that’s perfect for your skin. This is why it’s recommended to spend a little more on a product that you know will work for you. Spending more on foundation is absolutely worth it.

Inexpensive foundations might provide little coverage, dry out the skin, or end up looking cake-y. In some cases, inexpensive foundation brands do not have enough shades to match your skin tone. Having a foundation that matches your skin tone closely is absolutely necessary for a flawless look. With that said, it’s best to just skip the drugstore.

Not sure which foundation is right for you? Head on over to your local makeup counter and talk to an expert. They’ll help you find the right shade and formulation for your skin tone and skin type. Do you need a tinted moisturizer or a full-coverage foundation? These are questions that they can help answer.

Also, keep in mind that during the summer and winter months, your foundation shade will change. This is another reason why spending more is better when it comes to your foundation.

Hair Brushes

Not only will cheap brushes wear out more quickly than a pricier brush, but the bristles on cheap brushes can actually damage your hair!

The plastic bristles on inexpensive brushes can pull and break your hair, leading to split ends and hair that has completely broken off. Boar bristle hair brushes are gentler on the hair, reducing breakage. They distribute natural scalp oils throughout the hair shaft, boosting shine and hydration. are highly recommended for all hair types. They do cost much more than the cheap brushes, but are totally worth the investment—and in some cases, can last a lifetime!

Shampoo and Conditioner

If you’ve ever tried a drugstore brand of shampoo or conditioner and then switched to a more expensive brand, chances are you notice a huge difference in the two.

According to experiments conducted by Huddersfield University and led by chemist Dr. Laura Waters, expensive shampoos actually do provide better treatment to your hair in comparison to the less expensive shampoos. Most of the cheaper shampoos do not contain conditioning agents, which reduce static after washing. It was also found that the less expensive products make hair attract even more dirt!

Needless to say, by switching to a high-quality shampoo and conditioner, you can go longer in between washings and reduce static and breakage, leading to healthier hair. So, it’s absolutely worth it to spend more on shampoo and conditioner!

The next time that you’re shopping for beauty products, remember that less doesn’t always mean more. From skincare products to hair care, it’s absolutely worth it to spend more on certain brands.
