Why it’s important to have a quarterly bathroom maintanence!

Your bathroom is probably the most underestimated room in your house. It may be a small room, but it plays an important part in your day-to-day life from your morning prep before work to that relaxing hot shower you take to unwind after a long day. In fact, the average person spends a total of one and a half years using the bathroom throughout a lifetime, a poll on 2,500 people found.

Upflush toilet

You need to pay more attention to your bathroom because of its role in your life and home, and this includes performing maintenance on a quarterly basis. Here are four reasons why it’s important to do this routine activity.

Prevent Accidents

Your bathroom may be smaller compared to the other rooms in your home, but it can actually be a dangerous place. In fact, 235,000 people aged fifteen years old and above end up in emergency rooms every year because of injuries they suffered in the bathroom, and 14 percent of those get hospitalized, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The same study reported that the majority of bathroom accidents occur near or in the tub or shower. Common accidents in the bathroom include slipping on wet floors, falling, and tripping on broken tiles. By conducting bathroom maintenance on a quarterly basis, you can make timely repairs on broken fixtures, pipes, and wires that can potentially cause accidents. Regular checkups will also let you identify potential problem areas and make the necessary changes before it is too late.

Pro Tips:
● Install antislip mats in your tub, in the shower area, the space in front of your sink, and near the entrance of the bathroom.
● Immediately fix broken or loose tiles.
● Immediately repair leaks or broken pipes to prevent water stains and puddles from forming.
● If you have a toddler in the house, purchase a toilet seat that the child would be comfortable to use.

Fight Diseases

Mold and bacteria love to grow in moist and humid places, which makes bathrooms their ideal breeding ground. Bathrooms are home to bacteria like E.coli, streptococcus, salmonella, and Bacteroidaceae, and unsurprisingly, the toilet is a hive of germs, with 3.2 million bacteria found per square inch on average.

It’s important to perform daily or at most weekly cleanups for usual danger zones like the toilet, but in addition to routine maintenance, you also need to do a quarterly deep clean in all other areas of the bathroom. Deep cleaning targets hard-to-reach areas like grout, bathroom vents, and the showerhead as well as every inch of the tub, sink, and toilet. By scheduling quarterly deep-cleaning sessions, you prevent diseases from spreading and keep your family safe and healthy.

Pro Tips:
● Clean and seal your grout every quarter to prevent moisture and bacteria buildup.
● Eliminate calcium and mineral buildup from the showerhead by soaking it in white vinegar overnight before thoroughly scrubbing it with a toothbrush.
● Blast filthy and dusty exhaust fans with compressed air to thoroughly remove stubborn dirt and debris.

Save Money

Quarterly bathroom maintenance can help you stay on top of much-needed repairs and upgrades before it’s too late. Have you ever woken in the middle of the night to the sound of a leaky faucet? Broken pipes can leave unsightly water stains in your house, and they can be dangerous because their leaks can cause slips and falls.

Leaks also cost you money. On average, small leaks can cost homeowners twenty dollars every year while faucets and pipes with bigger damage could cost anywhere between sixty to two hundred dollars every year. That is hard-earned money you could have spent elsewhere if you had been paying more attention to your bathroom.

Pro Tips:

● To prevent blockage in your pipes, pour half a cup of baking soda followed by half a cup of vinegar, and then wash it down with boiling-hot water.
● Consider upgrading your toilet system to an upflush system, which features a built-in macerator that effectively shreds solid waste materials, thereby preventing clogs in your pipes.

Make Bathroom Time Enjoyable

If you have young kids, you know much of a struggle it can be to get them to take a bath. Children would much rather play and do something fun than be in the bathroom, especially if yours is a dirty, malfunctioning bathroom.

Regardless of whether you have kids or not, it’s important that you take care of your bathroom because you spend a considerable amount of time every day inside it. Conducting quarterly maintenance ensures that every fixture is in tip-top condition and ready to meet all your family’s needs. You don’t want to go to work late and frazzled because the shower suddenly stopped working.

Pro Tips:
● Make your bathroom a more fun and relaxing space by adding personal touches to it every quarter like ornamental plants and aromatic candles.
● Make bath time fun for your kids by buying toys that they can play with while in the bath like bubble machines and rubber ducks.

Biggest Wedding Day Mistakes & How to Avoid Them!

Weddings can simultaneously be one of the happiest and most stressful day of your life. However, with careful planning and awareness, you can mitigate a lot of the biggest wedding day mistakes that cast a shadow over your day.

Wedding pic

Here are some of the biggest wedding day mistakes and how you can avoid them.

Dress Doesn’t Fit

There are a surprising amount of brides that find that their dress doesn’t fit on the day of their wedding. There are a few things that cause this disaster.

First, improper planning leading to delays in the dress arriving. When the dress arrives right before the wedding, it doesn’t allow for time spent doing alterations and making sure everything fits as it should. This can be prevented by ordering the dress way in advance or shopping on Azazie.com to ensure a quick turnaround time.

Another mistake that brides make in the early days is buying the dress too small as a form of motivation to lose weight. If a bride decides she wants to lose weight for her wedding, it’s better to purchase the dress in her current size and have alterations made later. Stress plays a key role in weight management, and can thwart even the best efforts.

Delays

Delays in the schedule can not only cause undue stress for the bridal party, but they can also make the guests grumble and ruin the events. Delays are often caused by poor planning or unprofessional vendors.

To prevent delays, consider hiring a day-of coordinator to keep everyone on task. Not hiring a day-of coordinator is another wedding day mistake you should avoid! If you don’t have a day-of coordinator, ask a trusted family member or friend who is confident and organized to play the role. Yes, this job was made for your bossy aunt Susan.

Take time to vet your vendors beforehand. Read reviews and ensure that other brides who used the services didn’t have issues with tardiness or delays. Touch base with the vendors in the days leading up to the wedding to ensure everyone is on the same page.

Wedding pic

Terrible Vendors

To expand on the vendor issues, having a terrible DJ, photographer, caterer, etc. can have an impact on your wedding day that remains a sore spot even years later. Don’t cheap out on vendors or allow your friend who just started photography to pressure you into letting them take your photos.

Always read reviews and get recommendations. Your friend might take beautiful photos when the weather is right and they can have someone hold a pose. Your DJ friend might be great at putting music together but have no idea how to hook up to the system at your venue. The cheapest caterer you can find might give you all food poisoning. If you’re going to hire someone, do it right.

Allowing Family Drama to Ruin Your Day

Don’t make the mistake of thinking that grown adults can act like grown adults and be self-aware enough to not make your day about them.

Set firm boundaries and expectations for potential problem people early on and reiterate it in the days leading up to the wedding. Keep people with negative relationships seated separately and have someone run interference. Again, a day-of wedding coordinator is well-suited for this task.

By being proactive, you can prevent the issues that cause the biggest wedding day blunders. Speak your mind, plan ahead, and enjoy your big day.

Dance Inspired Fashion for 2019!

Every year we see fashion trends that got their start on the dance studio floor. It is expected and it is a good “partnership.” When experts in the fashion world add their ideas with the ideas of experts in the Dance Design Costume world, magic is born.

In fact, many industries are intertwined here. While fashion may begin with dance-trends, they take it a whole new level. Only fashion icons can take a romantic or sexy dance costume and turn it into a red-carpet-ready event that a major celebrity will wear. It doesn’t stop there. When famous wedding gown designers take those lines, designs, and fabrics into consideration, the wedding gown season is often alive with new trends. So, it starts with dance but it has a wide reach.

Dance

2019 Trends

This is the year of romance and hot and sexy outfits. Last year was life mimicking all forms of dance. This included Jazzercise and Disco. The color was Millennial Pink all the way. The smokey, gray-pink was everywhere.

These three things are missing from the clothing trends in 2019. There will be much less Jazzercise and Disco and much more graceful ballet, and ballroom.

Colors

You will not be seeing much of Millennial Pink. It is not nearly as brilliant and lovely as the colors we will see this year.

This year look for:
● Warm Caramel
● Honey
● Emerald Green
● Peacock Blue
● Plum
● Deep Burgundy

Style

Daring, alluring, and very sexy is what you will see everywhere. Dancewear will have plunging backs combined with low-cut fronts. You will see a lot of lace or mesh cut-outs. The main thing to remember is it is all about the lines. The lines hug the body which gives shape to the outfit. You can get everything you need to improve your wardrobe in style at Just For Kix.

Athleisure

This is the “today” sweatpants. They are trim and slim and look good enough to wear anywhere. They do not look sloppy.

Traditional Must-Have Pieces For Dance or Fashion

● Leotards as tops

○ These great “tops” do not ride up. They hug the body and give you the support of a blouse and bra and they come in many cuts. Wear a halter leotard, a capped sleeve, backless, or long sleeve. Add lots of lace, mesh, or cut-outs.

● Tulle skirts

○ Full tulle skirts are showing up in all kinds of events. These skirts are being worn with cashmere, off-the-shoulder sweaters or silky leotards. Ballet flats are perfect.

● Tights

○ Tights are replacing hosiery this year. The fishnet tights of 2018 are still rocking the fashion world. This year, look for animal prints. Leopard print tights under a leotard or some cute shorts are in the dance studio. The same tights under a flirty little skirt are showing up at the clubs.

● Elephant pants

○ Elephant pants are back for 2019. Wear them low on the hips and attach them firmly at the ankles. They are a bit smaller than the 90’s hit. You will see loose pants with a high waist that are gathered and cuffed at the ankle. Pair them with a hot crop top and ballerina flats, and you are ready to go.

● Leggings

○ Leggings are here to stay and every year they get better and better. This year look for shiny metallic fabrics. Big name sporting companies are putting out shiny gold, silver, and rose gold. If you look closely, you may find a few pieces in rust that are awesome. Match these up with a cool sports bra and you have the hottest look on the floor.

The best thing about 2019 is the choices. There are so many choices that you will find your favorite look from casual, to business casual, to formal. You can mix and match and be creative. You will look fantastic and turn heads everywhere you go.

Tips for oral hygiene during Ramadan!

A Healthpoint orthodontist gives tips for fresh breath and oral health while fasting

Healthpoint

Oral hygiene is particularly important during Ramadan as fasting can cause bacteria to build up, says the Head of the Dental Clinic at Healthpoint.

Dr. Khalid Alameri, Consultant Orthodontist and Head of the Dental Clinic at Healthpoint, explains that fasting and therefore abstaining from liquids can lead to the development of oral bacteria, a prime culprit in bad breath, cavities and gum disease.

Dr Khalid says, “People need to adapt their oral hygiene routine during Ramadan, being sure to brush their teeth after both iftar and suhoor to prevent bacteria from forming. Most mouth odor originates from the tongue, so using a tongue scraper twice a day will also help.”

Combatting dehydration is particularly important in avoiding bad breath, Dr Khalid points out. In addition to drinking plenty of liquids and avoiding salt, caffeine and diuretics during non-fasting hours, there are measures to prevent a dry mouth.

“If care is taken not to swallow any liquid, then the use of mouthwash or rinsing with water will not break the fast. However, some people are uncomfortable with this, so they can use miswak sticks, a natural tooth-cleaning twig, to stimulate salivary flow.”

Dr Khalid’s top-four tips for fresh breath while fasting

1. Brush and floss after iftar and suhoor

2. During the fasting hours, use a tongue scraper, miswak sticks and rinse your mouth with water or mouthwash

3. Use an oral pro-biotic to replenish healthy bacteria that may be lost through using too much mouthwash

4. When breaking your fast, avoid onions, garlic, smoking and other common causes of bad breath.

Should children be allowed to lock their doors

Kids nowadays tend to enjoy their solitude inside their bedrooms. They might spend their time studying or playing with their gadgets alone. Their room is where they feel most comfortable and where they escape difficulties from school and the neighborhood.

Kids

But when your kids leave their rooms, do they opt to lock them or leave them behind like an open book? Do you ever let your children decide whether they should have a private space of their own inside the house? Here are some issues that you should consider when you allow your children lock their rooms.

Privacy
Kids also need to have their alone time, especially school-age children. Kids who have had a long day at school with their peers deserve to rest on their own. They need a place where they can do their homework in peace as well.

Moreover, teaching kids the value of privacy is important so that they may be able to respect other people’s privacy. This way, they will be able to understand why other people lock or close their bedroom doors. They will learn to knock first before barging into someone else’s space.

Protection
If you teach your kids to lock the door while they are inside their respective bedrooms, you are also teaching them to protect themselves. You never know when a possible crime could take place inside your home (i.e., theft or robbery), which is why it is better to be always prepared. Even when you and your kids are not at home, it is better to have their rooms locked for safety.

Emergencies
However, locking up the room isn’t always a good option. For instance, if a calamity or an unexpected medical emergency occurs, you wouldn’t have easy access to your children’s room. Your kids might not be able to hear or sense the clamor because of an emergency or a sudden calamity.

This is an issue that most parents worry about when it comes to allowing their kids to lock their doors. In addition, it might be difficult for you to monitor your children’s activities. You will never know if a kid is sick, feeling down, or having bad dreams.

Just in case of urgent matters, you might want to use a tool that will help you enter your children’s quarters. Letting your kids lock their room does not mean you are completely banned in their space. You still have a huge responsibility as a parent to look after the safety and welfare of your little ones.

Lock pick

This emergency tool must be used as a last resort only since you should also respect your children’s private zone. Peterson lockpicks are manufactured according to Peterson’s military design. Buyers swear by its reliable rubber hand grip, which allows it not to slip away from your hands easily.

Through this tool, you won’t have to worry about your kids during emergencies, calamities, and random bad days. Your home will be a safer place with the Peterson lockpicks.

How CBD helps to get better sleep!

In the UK, two thirds (67%) of UK adults suffer from disrupted sleep and nearly a quarter (23%) manage no more than five hours a night.

A lack of sleep doesn’t just affect your day to day life it can also lead to a whole range of issues later in the long-term.

Supplements

Many people are therefore turning to CBD as a new way to help them sleep, CBD is short for cannabidiol. Cannabidiol (CBD) is a chemical, which is derived from the Cannabis Sativa plant. The same plant species from which we get marijuana.

The big difference between the two is that despite coming from the same plant, CBD is a completely different chemical compound to tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) – the psychoactive cannabinoid found in marijuana cannabis, which causes you to get “high” when you consume it.

CBD wont get you ‘high’ but it can be very beneficial to your overall health in many ways.

How does it help me sleep?

We all have what are known as 5HT1A receptors inside of us, these receptors trigger the release and the reuptake of serotonin. Improved reuptake of serotonin allows excess serotonin molecules to be use more efficiently, which in turn, allows our bodies to relax much more quickly and provides us with more control over our mental state.

Serotonin is an inhibitory neurotransmitter meaning it acts as an ‘inhibitor’, filtering out excitatory messages so that only positive and critical thoughts can pass through a neuron. Serotonin is also a precursor to melatonin the hormone that makes us feel ‘sleepy’ so when naturally increased levels of serotonin occur we make more melatonin, Naturally!! This helps us to regulate our sleep wake cycle!

This is a big deal! If you speak to any sleep specialist, many of them will tell you that universally we’re sleeping worse and for less time this is due to a multitude of factors one of which is our obsession with technology. We are constantly looking at bright screens for far too long and until late at night which can mess up our circadian rhythm and natural sleep cycle.

So, by taking a supplement that can actively help improve our bodies natural sleep processes and rhythm whilst also paying attention to the negative factors affecting our sleep we can begin to get our sleep back on track.

Here at Enhanced Biotics we take pride in our CBD range ensuring quality above all else. We have one job and that’s enhancing your wellbeing.

Our aim is to provide our customers with the highest quality, natural cannabinoid extracts from Industrial Hemp. All of our CBD oil-based products contain no more than trace elements of THC (less than 0.2%) and they are all tested thoroughly.

Our products are Gluten Free, some of our products are suitable for Vegans, non-GMO, Organic and Lactose-Free. There are absolutely no additives either!. If you would like to know more about CBD, please feel free to check out www.enhancedbiotics.co.uk and speak to one of our team members.

*CBD is a natural supplement and should only be taken as a supplement. Please always consult your doctor first before taking any form of supplement.

How to Pack for a Weekend Getaway!

Who wants to be lugging around heavy luggage at the airport or train station? Nobody. To avoid this situation when you’re planning a weekend away — whether it’s just a staycation in your own town or you’re crossing country borders — pack light. But, what does that look like in reality? The key to packing for a shorter trip is to focus on the flexibility of what you’re bringing. Think about clothing, accessories, or bags and their ability to transition from day to night.

Getaway

Here are some tips for making the most of your next weekend getaway:

1. Versatile footwear

Ideally, you won’t bring more than just a couple of pairs of shoes to get you through your trip. For example, some slip-on sneakers are a great option that work for a variety of different activities. If you’re not the planning type, choosing one pair of shoes to bring helps eliminate decision fatigue so you can focus on having fun. Plus, it saves space in your bag.

2. Bags within bags

Plan out your outfits beforehand so you never have to spend time deciding on a look for the day. Then, once you’ve got your attire picked out, use a packing cube to compress everything down. Keep your outfits in a separate bag for each day.

3. Snacks for on-the-go

If you don’t want to overspend on airport food and make multiple stops for food, bring your own snacks! Larabars or GoMacro Bars offer a little sweetness and protein to keep you going strong.

4. Leather jacket

Always a little chilly? A leather jacket is a chic accompaniment to any outfit. Pair it with a white tee and loose jeans for a casual look. Or, dress up a going-out outfit with this devil-may-care layer. It’s perfect for either day or night.

So, what are you waiting for? Channel your own James Dean and live on the dark side. Even if it’s just for the weekend.

5. A weekender bag

As much as it’s tempting to rely on that ripped duffel bag once again, why not level up your weekender status with a nice bag that will actually last you through multiple trips? Herschel bags are the perfect bag for any length of travel. Not your style? Instead, opt for a Kate Spade bag or a simple travel backpack.

Weekender bag

6. Toiletries

It’s important to keep your toiletries minimal. Why? At the end of the day, if you forget a toothbrush or moisturizer – it’s not the end of the world. You can easily replace those through the hotel you stay at or a quick run to a pharmacy will also do the trick.

7. Portable charger

If you’re planning to be out of the hotel room or Airbnb all day, make sure to have a portable charger to save you from being without a phone during the day. Especially if you’re planning on going out at night and need a Lyft or Uber later, your phone is going to be important to have.

8. Copies of important papers

Even if you’re just going on a weekend, always get copies of all important documents. Passports, IDs, plane tickets, train tickets, event tickets – always have a backup copy, just in case. There are plenty of scanning apps like Genius Scan and ScanBot that make making digital copies very easy. Peace of mind, after all, is priceless.

9. Medicine

If you take a prescription medicine (or maybe just vitamin C gummies), don’t forget to bring those with you. An organized pill box prevents you from having to bring entire bottles of medicine with you on your trip.

10. Swimsuit

Of course, this depends on the season you’re traveling. But, you might want to bring a swimsuit regardless of when you travel in case your hotel has a heated pool.

11. Workout gear

If you’re the type that likes to stay fit on vacation or if you like to start your day off with a run, pack in some workout gear. Most athletic clothes can be easily packed away so you won’t have to worry about added weight or bulk. Even though it’s a vacation, you can still exercise if you need that pump to get you stoked for the rest of the day’s activities.

Takeaways

If you are packing for a weekend trip away, keep your luggage light and pare down to the holiday essentials. You don’t want to be bogged down by too much stuff to keep track of while you’re moving around and trying to explore a new place. Keep these tips in mind and you’ll be ready for an amazing getaway!

Benefits of CBD oil to Human Brain!

There’s been much hype over the positive effects of marijuana in the past few years and for good reason. Aside from being a relatively mild source of recreation, plenty of previous research point to the confounding benefits of the plant, specifically its chemical component called CBD or cannabidiol.

Essentially, cannabidiol is a compound found in cannabis that science has found to have significant potential in treating a shocking variety of ailments, including chronic pain, inflammation, seizures, psychosis, anxiety, and a lot of other neurological diseases.

Cannabis oil

Given that society is now slowly becoming more open to discussions on mental health, many are slowly retreating from the stigmatized associations with the drug and warming up to its potential as a promising source of relief—if not, cure to a wide array of anxiety disorders.

In the US alone, anxiety disorders affect 18.1 percent of the population or 40 million American adults. It’s also uncommon for someone diagnosed with anxiety disorder to be depressed. Additionally, around 44.7 million suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). These alarming figures prompt the search for substances like CBD and other therapies and medical interventions that can help ease the suffering of millions.

But before you consider CBD as the panacea to mental illness, it’s important to know just how exactly does this drug affects the body.

What Is CBD?

Primarily, cannabidiol, or CBD, is a type of cannabinoid, a class of diverse chemical compounds. These compounds exist naturally in the human body and in plants such as cannabis. When these cannabinoids bind with cannabinoid receptors present in the membrane of cells, they influence the workings of the cells directly or indirectly.

Various studies have probed into the effects of such indirect influence on the mechanisms of the cell and found the following effects.

CBD Helps Protect Neurons from Degenerating

In different laboratory-controlled settings, cannabidiol has shown the capacity to protect neurons, or your brain cells, from degeneration. Neural degeneration is one of the leading causes of dreaded illnesses such as dementia and Alzheimer’s disease. CBD does this by supporting normal cellular function and supporting your body’s natural immune response.

Additionally, it has also been shown to promote the repair of cells and help assist with healthy aging.

CBD Helps Relieve Pain

The analgesic effect of cannabidiol is perhaps one of the most talked about benefits of marijuana. A big part of this phenomenon can be attributed to the opioid crisis or the rapid increase in the use of prescription and nonprescription opioid drugs in the US in the past few decades.

Opioids have been widely used to treat chronic pain, but the vastly documented harmful effects of opioid use have urged many patients to seek nonaddictive alternatives. CBD filled this gap. Due to CBD oil showing great promise in the lab, patients on chronic pain medications are now asking their doctors about the possibility of acquiring it as pain medication. Unlike THC, cannabis’s psychoactive counterpart, CBD, does not cause a high.

CBD works by interacting with your immune system and brain receptors. When your brain receptors react with CBD, they form anti-inflammatory effects that reduce pain. The good thing about CBD oil is you that you can keep taking it but not build a tolerance for it. This solves the addiction problem that was the primary issue with opioids.

CBD Helps Prevent Tumors

Over the years, plenty of research efforts have been dedicated to the anticancer potential of THC and CBD. Today, cannabinoid treatments on human patients are in their early stages, but even in their initial phase, there has been a demonstrated significant success in both substances’ abilities to mitigate the growth and metastasis of cancer cells.

CBD, especially, has shown great promise in slowing down or even stopping the spreading of cancer cell while THC has been shown to aid the shrinking of existing tumors.

CBD Shows Potential for Treating Anxiety

Chemical interactions of CBD and the human brain have been proven to be productive for treating symptoms of anxiety. The neurological impact to patients with PTSD has also been explored, with positive results. Although much work is yet to be done to validate the initial outcomes, many people have started to seek marijuana, especially the pure CBD form, for their mental health issues.

Advice on Using CBD Oil

All these benefits show much promise to the many wonders of cannabidiol, but also consider the caveat. A lot of anecdotes and stories have been going around without substantial medical evidence to the claim. Here are some tips you can follow when considering CBD for you or your loved one.

● When looking for CBD information, be sure to target researches that focus on CBD oil alone instead of cannabis in general.

● Always investigate the source of information on CBD and if it is reliable.

● Buying CBD oil online can be risky. You are not always sure if what you’re getting is really pure.

● Ask your doctor first for this option.

CBD Oil and Workplace Considerations

Workplace policies may still not allow marijuana use among employees, especially if you live in states where marijuana is not yet legal. Fortunately, urine tests are not designed to detect CBD but rather THC, its psychoactive counterpart. Therefore, there is no need to worry. However, if you’d rather be safe than sorry, there are steps you can take to pass strict drug tests, including proven detox processes and synthetic urine options.

Final Word

CBD oil is a promising treatment option for a vast array of medical afflictions. But because the medical aspect of marijuana treatment in the US is still in its baby stage, it’s still best to question your options.

Risks are not fully eliminated, and there is always the doubt of authenticity when it comes to the source of this form of medication. So seek professional advice before anything else, and proceed with a probing mind when acquiring your own CBD substance.
