Let’s donate clean water with Essential Mall & UNICEF!

Dear friends,

Shopping is not only a global phenomenon, it’s also a very satisfying one!. Don’t you agree with me?. Especially with online shopping, things just got easier. Shopping for just about anything, from the comforts of your own home, is wonderfully convenient. Now consider this : What if you could be a part of a noble cause and donate to needy children around the world, while shopping for your favorite products?. Doesn’t that just elevate the satisfaction level involved in the shopping experience?.

Let me explain more. Essential Mall is a popular shopping site in UAE. What most might not know is that Essential Mall is a non-profit global and socially conscious online shopping network. Since 2014, they have partnered with UNICEF. They donate 100% of their net profits to UNICEF’s water aid mission, where UNICEF provides clean essentialwater to where the need is greatest.

The process is a very transparent one. When you shop on Essential Mall, for every $1 AUD (AED 2.83) you spend, 1.2 days of clean water are provided to a child by UNICEF. Other than spreading awareness about this mission, in this post I also wish to give you a code!. When you use this code, you will help double the social impact. So, when spending $1 AUD, you will be able to provide 2.4 days of clean water!. It creates a huge impact in the long run.

The social impact code is naznin

With the help of the below pictures, I would like to give you a peak into how this simple process works :

Suppose you decide to buy a ‘Redness FX Calming cream for dry skin’, which costs AED 91.81. On placing it in the cart, you can see under Social Impact that with this purchase you will help provide 38 days of clean water!

Now after applying my code, naznin, you can see that you are now helping to provide 76 days of clean water!. Can you imagine the social impact you create just by shopping!. You are not spending anything extra just for charity sake. You are just going about doing a normal and simple act as shopping but at the same time making a huge difference..

Sometimes it’s easy for us to not think about the world and It’s wide array of problems. It’s so very easy to get lost in our own world and our little problems. But did you know that one child in this world dies due to consumption of contaminated water every minute?. “I am just an individual and what difference can I possibly make” might be a question on your mind. But you, yes YOU, the one reading this right now CAN make a difference. Simply shop on Essential Mall. To date, Essential Mall has created over 220,000 days of clean water.

Essential Mall stocks more than 30,000 products and also offers between 10 – 90% off!. Popular brands on the site are Bobbi Brown, Clinique, Benefit, Dr. Hauschka, Clarins, Estee Lauder, Elizabeth Arden, Givenchy, Kevyn Aucoin, Lipstick Queen, Lancome, Max Factor, NARS, Laura Mercier and many more. Also, at the bottom of the site, you can find linternational links to the same site that serves in other countries such as US, Canada, India & more.

As of 21st April 2015, Essential Mall has stopped paid advertisements and depends on social volunteers to spread the word about their noble mission. When you use my code, other than doubling the social impact, I do not get any monetary benefits from it. Also, I am not paid in any manner for doing this post. I urge you to use the code naznin while shopping on Essential Mall and also, kindly spend a couple of seconds to hit any of the share buttons below this post.

The Buzz About the Book

Mother and Son Review by MDBR: “Flight of the Mite is a delightful, rhyming picture book featuring an adorable little mite who dreams big as the main character; a magical story underscoring the importance of imagination in children’s development; and absolutely gorgeous and whimsical illustrations. I highly recommend this book to children ages 3 to 8 and I think it would be a great choice for reading aloud to children in a classroom or library setting.”

“This is our new favourite story to read and will be a book that we will be keeping to pass down to future member of our family.” ~ Raincity Parent

“This wonderful piece of children’s literature is well crafted and appropriate for children and adults, the message is clear, embrace diversity, ones weakness may actually be strength. The most interesting and entertaining part is that there is a consistent rhythm and rhyme to the story, keeping the powerful message light and playful.” ~ Active Lee Dadding

” I have read the sweetest story!…The combination of these two talents [i.e., the author and illustrator] working together has left us with a sweet rhyming story about a little mites big imagination.” ~ Moments in Mommyland

“I recently received a new children’s book to review called Flight of the Mite. So of course I went to the best critic in the house – my 4 year old son[…]. We sat down to read the story together and discovered a delightful tale about imagination and discovery… The illustrations are delightful and [my son] insisted that we stop to discuss some of them along the way. There was more than one “wow!” over a picture of the mite climbing a dandelion.” ~ Prenatal to Parenting

Review: July 2014 Glambox and more about #giftofglam!

Hey guys!

I am super excited to review July’s Glambox. There are some amazing goodies this month!. On to this month’s awesome box:

JulyGlambox 001

There are 3 full size products this month and 3 samples:

1) Max factor X Excess Volume Extreme Impact Mascara in Black : This is the latest mascara from Max Factor. I love mascaras and this one quickly has become my favorite at the moment!. It’s double ended with one brush giving you extreme volume and the other giving a dark lacquer look. The former brush is very thick with the spikes on the wand very close together to give you maximum volume and the latter has uniformly spaced brush that intensifies the look you created with the former brush.

JulyGlambox 006Here is a pic of my eyes after my first try (not particularly a professional shot but you get the idea! :P):

It really elongates your natural lashes and is totally clump free. I had read some reviews even before trying this product out where people said this was a nightmare to remove from your lashes, even leading to lash shedding during the process. I was really skeptical then!. So I tried two different removers on different occasions. One is Bioderma’s Sensibio H2O, which I had received in a Glambox itself earlier and the other was Garnier’s makeup remover milk. Both worked great!. I used cotton pads and a cotton swab to remove it well.

The one problem I do have is that the tube is one of the chunkiest I have seen and applying with it, particularly on my left eye is a bit tough. This mascara containing 20ml is worth AED77. This one product itself cover’s the entire box’s price (If you subscribe to Glambox, each box works out to be about AED71 per month).

2) Olay Total Effects Stretch n Fit Cloth masks : I am a HUGE fan of Olay Total Effects (Please stay tuned for my skincare routine next month!) and use several of their products. However, I am not a fan of masks like this in general and thus never bought this. So it’s awesome I got to give it a try like this!.

JulyGlambox 005

I should say I am quite surprised!. I love this mask. The face shaped cloth mask can be really stretched and made to fit your face shape and the best part is you can even walk around with it, without fearing it will fall off your face!. It stays put. There is always the option of just closing your eyes and relaxing for the entire time it’s on, like I did :).

You are supposed to apply it for 15 minutes. The mask is soaking wet and the serum on it is an anti-oxidant rich cocktail that in the 15 mins time mentioned, gives your face a youthful, plump, fresh and smooth look. It really delivers it’s promise. Once the mask is off, you don’t need to rinse it off. You can take a cotton pad and dab the excess amount away. If you love masks or a quick youthful at-home face treatment, I highly recommend this!.

The box contains 3 masks and is worth AED53.50.

3) Pantene Pro – V Hair Rescue Ampoules (a.k.a 1 minute wonder ampoules) : This is also one of the products I always saw on the shelves when I went out shopping but never bought. So, yay for finding it in this month’s Glambox!.

JulyGlambox 012

This little box contains three ampoules/tubes each containing 15ml of serum, that is supposed to repair severe damage in 1 minute. The serum is white in color and a great consistency to spread onto wet hair. To use this, you have to shampoo and condition your hair, wring out the excess water from your hair and then spread onto that wet hair. It works almost immediately and you can rinse off after 1 minute. The knots in your hair go away and overall, your hair becomes manageable!. You got to use only one tube per wash and once per week. The 15ml of product is actually more than enough to coat your entire hair and I have quite long hair!.

After my first use, I found my hair looked shiny but a bit on the dry side, as if I had over-shampooed my hair. So, next time, I used only half the amount of shampoo and conditioner when compared to the normal amount I use and then applied it. This time, it worked well. So, I suggest you use it with a mild shampoo. The result is manageable, glossy and smooth looking hair!. This box is worth AED21.

4) Sample of Especially Escada Elixir : This is unquestionably one of the best perfume samples I have ever got. When I smelt this for the first time, I realized that I had been sticking to just one class of scents all my life. This was just an entirely different class, so different from the kinds I usually like but still I fell in love!!. Ah-mazing smell ♥. I would definitely try to get a full size version of this. Oh!. It’s a heavenly smelling perfume, which came in a mini spray bottle containing 2ml. I found it to be perfect for evening wear and really long lasting.

It’s main notes are Turkish rose, Ylang-ylang and accords of prune and fresh plums, laid on the base of Patchouli, Madagascar Vanilla, White musk, Dry amber and Cashmere (This info is from Google.. obviously!)

JulyGlambox 008

5) Sample of Olay Regenerist Wrinkle Relaxing Complex : This is a 7ml tube containing a really nice smelling cream. It gets absorbed fast and has a silky feel to it. Also, has a slightly plumping effect I feel. Olay Regenerist range of products is more suitable for people who have crossed age 30, so I had never tried any of the creams from that range yet.

JulyGlambox 010

6) Sample of Eau De Lacoste Sensuelle : This is a good scent. It contains soft floral notes and is very mild. I love the full size bottle pictured on the packaging. The sample contains 2ml.

JulyGlambox 009

If you loved this box, then you still have time until July 12th, 2014 to subscribe to Glambox!

Review: Human + Kind Anti-Ageing Cream / A Ramadan Initiative!

Hey all!

Human + Kind is an Irish skincare brand which uses only natural / organic ingredients in all their products. Their motto itself is “Skincare with a conscience”. I love natural products and I have always wanted to get a product from this brand.

Recently, I noticed that the site Mumzworld features this brand.

MumzworldI am so into the anti-ageing fad and when I saw that Human + Kind has an all – in – one anti-ageing cream, I so wanted it right away!. So I ordered it on 9th Jun. On 10th Jun, I received an email saying that the product has been shipped out. Then on 11th Jun, I received it!. Talk about super fast shipping!!. I loved shopping on this site.

The product was delivered by Parzel. It was bubble wrapped so that there is absolutely no damage to it!.

On to the review :

“Human+Kind All-In-One Anti-Ageing Cream is packed with highly concentrated active natural ingredients, selected for their rejuvenating and healing properties. It gets to work quickly to restore maximum hydration levels to the skin, making it firmer and more elastic. A fantastic all-rounder Human+Kind All-In-One Anti-Ageing Cream helps to smooth out fine lines and wrinkles, reducing the appearance of age spots, softening and evening out skin tone.

As well as its healing and hydrating action Human+Kind All-In-One Anti-Ageing Cream focuses on nourishing tired and lacklustre skin; jojoba seed oil, marshmallow extract, rosehip oil and shea butter are blended with an ingredient called acmella olercea, known as ‘nature’s Botox’.

As an ingredient it offers visible results, helping to reduce wrinkle depth, smoothing skin and making it look younger.” [Quoted from the site]

This cream is very thick and luxuriously creamy. A small amount goes a long way!.

HK CreamThat one small dot in picture 1, goes a long way as you can see in picture 2 and spreads nicely, like in picture 3. When blended more it gets absorbed easily into the skin.

It has a very strong smell. But there is nothing added in it to have that smell. Everything is derived from the natural products in it. Some might find the smell too strong. For me, it’s OK. But if you are used to using fragrance free products, you might have trouble tolerating or getting used to it.

There are absolutely no chemicals or parabens in this cream. That attracted me a lot. This makes it safe to use on the delicate area around the eye too!. I have used it for over a month now continuously. It leaves my skin soft and totally hydrated. I am not sure about the “botox” effect. Probably after a prolonged use of this cream, there might be a smoother look to my face :). It is said that the cream should be used twice daily for maximum effect. But I incorporate it only in my night time routine. I don’t have many fine lines on my face for now, because I have been a follower of a great skincare regimen for about 3 years now (I will do a post on it, if you would like), but still I love continuing to use anti-ageing creams!.

While using this H+K cream, it replaced my night cream, day cream, serum and eye cream!. That is why it’s an all-in-one cream!. Even the packaging of the product is beautiful. It comes in an unusually shaped package.

Inside, here is the 50 ml bottle which is long and handy, takes up very less space and easy to trot around in your bag 🙂

On the paper encasing the bottle, there is a thank you note for purchasing the product and the Twitter site of H+K. The bottle has a nice pump which ensures hygienic usage and minimal waste.

I highly recommend this cream to you all. The price is AED160 for 50 ml. The shipping fee is AED23 on Mumzworld. When you shop over AED200, the shipping is free. As a limited time offer, if you register now and become a member of this site, you will receive an e-voucher of AED50 (can be used when your total bill is AED200 or more)!.

Now onto the Meal for Meal Ramadan Initiative by Mumzworld!. The campaign works this way: Buy a meal for a laborer in UAE for just AED16, on their site and Mumzworld will match that!. So, with just AED16, you end up feeding two people in this holy month of Ramadan. I think it’s a great initiative!!. There is no limit on the number of meals you can buy. Buy 10 meals and Mumzworld will put in another 10 and you will successfully feed 20 people. I already became a part of this campaign.. Would you too do that?

Note: Do enter my international giveaway which ends in 5 days, by clicking here!
