Guest post : Four DIY Skincare Masks Using Everyday Ingredients!

It is not always about buying the best and the most expensive of creams, chemicals, and products. Your kitchen pantry is where you need to hunt for that glow you have always wanted to have, but couldn’t get from any of the products that you tested. You can do wonders for your hair and skin with the help of simple foods and common ingredients. It may be astounding to know of some of the foods that you can use to make DIY face masks for yourself. Let’s take a look at them.

Lemon Mask

When it comes to lemons, it is safe to say that they are natural detoxifiers. They are the ones that create the perfect balance of the pH level for your skin and also have the same effect on it. Lemons release all the impurities of the skin, and they are great citric ingredients that help rejuvenate the skin. A fresh and vibrant look is what you get after using a DIY Face Mask that has lemon.

Juice of half a lemon
Gram flour- 1 tbsp
Turmeric powder- a pinch
Grated tomato juice from half a tomato
Rose water– few drops

Preparation and Application

This mask is simple to prepare. All you have to do is combine all the ingredients. Apply all over the face avoiding the eye area. You can also use the mask on the neck area. Wait for 15-20 minutes so that it completely cools down and hardens up. Then take a soft cloth dipped in warm water and gently rub it on your face. This mask is my personal favorite, and I keep making additions to it according to my time and convenience.

Honey Mask

Honey is one such ingredient which works wonders for your skin. It is the best when used raw, and it is rather a natural moisturizer. There are so many properties that honey has. It is even preventive against any microbial infections and is great for acne. Skin looks much younger and better when you make use of honey regularly as your body gets high in antioxidants.

Ingredients needed for the honey mask:

Just 1 tbsp of raw honey

Preparation and Application

All you have to do is put a generous amount of honey to your face. Your eye area has to be avoided, that goes without saying.

Let it be for 10 minutes or so, and then it can easily be washed off with a little lukewarm water.

Oat Mask

Oats are a staple diet for breakfast but more than that, they also are an excellent ingredient for face masks. There are some minerals and vitamins that are found in this breakfast cereal.

Oats work very well for any skin, whether itchy, dry, or even if it gets irritated from some irritant. Acne breakouts are best avoided with the help pf oats and powdered oats that are readily available in the market form a great exfoliating mask and scrub that can make your dead skin and all your sin troubles vanish.

Ingredients for the mask

Powdered Oats- 1 tbsp
Raw honey– 1 tbsp

Preparation and Application

All you have to do is combine both raw honey and powdered oats so that it becomes a paste. Apply this paste to your face and the neck area as well. Let it be for 10 minutes or so before rinsing it with warm water, and you can pat dry your face with a clean towel after all of these packs.

Cinnamon is tree bark, but it has more than one benefit. There are just so many pluses of this wonder ingredient that one may not be able to list them all out. Cinnamon and honey make for the best DIY facial mask, and it also happens to be the easiest. Another one of my personal favorites.

Cinnamon– a pinch
Honey- 1 tablespoon

Preparation and application

It is as simple as mixing the honey and cinnamon together and then applying it all over your face. It is great to use as an antibacterial pack and also to de-tan the face.

These are all some of the basic recipes. However, you can always be experimental and try out something of your own, just like I do, so many times. The homemade masks are a great and cheap way for you to get the clear and healthy skin that you have always wanted.

These lovely DIY homemade face mask jars also make fabulous gifts for your near and dear ones. You can keep many of them ready which do not have perishable ingredients and then gift them whenever required.

It is a fact that there are some beauty and household tips which, if followed, will do wonders for your hair and skin. There is just no need to spend big bucks on spas and beauty salons when all they are doing is just minting money off of you. There are various face masks which can be used by anyone, and everyone and all that is required to is just simple ingredients from your very own kitchen.

Review : Three Crueltyfree Fuschia skincare products!

Hey guys,

Fuschia is an Indian brand that comes under a bigger name, Vkare Bio Sciences. Recently I got to test three of their products and below are my thoughts on it. These products came in a cute, colorful little box that has written on it, the properties of this brand, what this brand stands by – Crueltyfree, Handmade, SLS free, Paraben free, Natural & Phthalates free.

Fuschia skincare

Chemicals harm our skin in the long run and you would be surprised how much of it is present in literally every product that we use. Of late, I’ve been trying out chemical-free options and am pretty impressed that there are so many brands that have taken that route.

Cherry Care Hand & Nail cream – This light pink colored cream smells absolutely divine. It’s a mixed scent of cherry and bubblegum!. It’s ultra moisturizing & has a thick consistency. Working with a small amount of product at a time helps the cream to get absorbed faster into the skin. If you take a large amount, the more you try to rub it in, the more it just keeps spreading around without getting absorbed. This is because of it’s thick, pasty texture.

Fuschia skincare

It’s ingredients are : Aqua, Glycerin, Aloe Vera, Coconut Oil, Bee’s Wax, Almond Oil, Cherry Extract, Mint Extract,  Vitamin- E. It’s full sized tub is priced at Rs 450 (Approx AED 25.66).

Green tea Clarifying Face & Body scrub – This one has such a refreshing & lovely scent, that if you just close your eyes for a sec, you feel like you are at a spa!. It’s a light green colored scrub that has small green tea particles in it, that’s lightly abrasive. I use it twice a week (like all scrub should be). It immediately reveals radiant, soft skin. It feels just great on the skin and pretty relaxing to feel the light scrubbing action.

Fuschia skincare

It’s ingredients are : : Aloe Vera, Green Tea, Olive Oil, Wheat Germ Oil. Can it get any more natural and simple that that!. I have mostly used scrubs that have walnut shell grits in them. This scrub feels mild (but still highly effective) after having used those for a long time. It’s a pleasant and welcome change. I highly recommend you try this scrub. I LOVE it.

Also, any product that’s ‘clarifying’ is generally meant for those suffering from acne or those with oily skin. However, I feel this scrub would suit all skin types. It’s absolutely lovely and smells wonderful. It’s full sized tub is priced at Rs 450.

Dazzle Face Mask – This Sandal & Saffron face mask is designed to make your skin dazzle, just like it’s name suggests. It’s the lightest shade of yellow and smells strongly of sandalwood and rose water. On drying, it becomes almost like a white mask on the face.

Fuschia skincare

It says on their site that you can use it for 15 – 20 minutes. However, for me, I can’t apply it for more than 7 minutes because by then it dries, since it contains different types of clay in it. My skin generally isn’t a fan of clay masks as they tend to leave my skin feeling dry. In this case too, after 7 mins (max), I lightly wet the mask, massage it, wash it away with plenty of water and immediately follow it with a hydrating moisturizer.

It’s ingredients are : Rose Water, Kaolin Light, China Clay, Glycerin, Aloe Vera, Bentonite Powder, Oatmeal Powder, Sandalwood Powder, Saffron Extract, Vitamin E. I recommend this scrub for those with combination/oily skin. Those with very dry skin should avoid it. It’s full sized tub is priced at Rs 450.

Overall, am a huge fan of this brand and highly recommend it ♡

Review : Deewal Beauty & Youth Face Pack!

Hey guys,

Today’s review is about an anti-aging face pack by Ayurvedic Indian brand, Deewal. It’s called Beauty & Youth pack.

Deewal beauty face pack

First of all, it comes in a simple box with a lovely, attractive woman’s face on it. The powder face pack is sealed inside a little pouch. The first thing that registers on opening this pouch is the scent of roses and sandalwood. It’s a fantastic scent ♡.

Face pack

The powder has the color of chandan (sandalwood). It can be used by mixing it with water, milk or rose water, to make a smooth paste. It says on the packaging that it can be applied for 10 – 15 minutes.

However, if you have normal / dry skin, I highly recommend that you use it for not more than 7 – 8 minutes. By that time itself, the face pack dries, due to the presence of Multani mitti (Fuller’s earth) in it.

Once it’s dried, I usually wet the face first and then just massage in the face pack and then rinse it off with plenty of water. The result is really radiant, visibly glowing & youthful skin.

Regular use of this face pack increases the overall health of the facial skin, thanks to it’s wonderful ingredients and helps fight the signs of ageing. I love this face pack and highly recommend you try it out.

The ingredients are Wheat Germ oil, Lemon oil, Almond oil, Rose petals, Sandalwood, Neem, Orange and Fuller’s Earth.

Price : Rs 120 (Approx AED 6.86) for 100 gms.

How to : DIY Skin glowing mask!

Hey guys!

Been a long while since I did a DIY. This one is a very simple and effective mask that has only 2 ingredients – Fenugreek seeds & organic honey.

The fenugreek seeds have to be soaked overnight or for about 8 hours. You need only a little bit since once soaked it grows in size. Honey softens your skin. I use Wedderspoon’s Active 16+ Manuka honey, which is very high in quality. I bought it online, from US for $40.86. They ship worldwide ultra fast and I highly recommend you try it out.

Onto the method itself : Grind the fenugreek seeds into a thick paste. Add honey into the paste rather than in the grinder. I add about 2 tbsp of honey, but that’s entirely upto you and also based on the amount of fenugreek paste.

Lol!. Looks like mashed potatoes and gravy!. The final mix should look like below :

This is actually a messy mask. The fenugreek paste doesn’t really adhere to our skin, so you will need to literally plaster it on and look like a monster. Keep it on for 30 mins. Wash off in cool water and discover the most glowing, soft skin!. I suggest you apply a thick layer on your face. The more thin the layer you apply, the more tough it is to remove from your skin with water. In that case you will need to wipe it off with a towel..

Let me know if you try it 🙂
