My day time skincare routine!

Hello 🙂

I quite recently did a skincare regimen basics/anti-aging night time skincare routine post. If you haven’t read that yet please do read it before continuing to read this post, since I won’t be explaining certain things I have already explained before. FYI : My skin type is normal, leaning towards dry (during winters).

Now, to those who have been waiting for this follow up post, let’s go ahead. My day time anti aging skincare routine is simple when compared to the night time routine. Sometimes I don’t even do all the steps I have mentioned below. I skip some and stay extremely basic: that is just CTM (Cleanse, Tone, Moisturize). To say the truth, I give uttermost importance to my nighttime routine and never skip anything that time :P. However, when I do perform all the steps, this is how the morning routine looks like:

Step 1 – Face wash

The first thing that I use when I wake up, is a good face wash. Whatever products are remaining on my face from yesterday night’s routine needs to be washed off, so as to start the day anew. I love the Olay Total Effects Age Defying face wash, which is a gentle product that’s great for daily use. It costs AED 33.25 for 150ml. It lasts a really long time.

Step 2 – Cleanse

Once I go about my daily chores, I bathe and then continue on with my routine. I apply the Olay Total Effects Age Defying Milk on to a cotton pad and sweep it across my face in an upward circular motion. Even after having taken a bath, you would be surprised to find traces of dirt on the cotton pad. This cleanser is very gentle yet removes hidden impurities from your pores and gives you really clean and radiant looking skin. I can safely say that though I love my Olay Total Effects products, this one is my absolute favorite out of all of them. It costs AED 31.75 for a 200ml bottle. I then wash my face (or sometimes I just spray water onto a new cotton pad and clean the cleanser off).

Step 3 – Tone

Using a toner is important to keep your pores tight, remove impurities from them that the cleanser didn’t and to maintain the ph level of your skin. I use a DIY Apple Cider Vinegar toner, the same as the one I use at night. I spray it 5 times onto a cotton pad and gently go over my face/neck. I don’t wash my face after applying the toner, instead I go to the next step.

Step 4 – Application of serum

Serum has the ability to penetrate into the deeper layers of your skin, working wonders in those layers where the moisturizer doesn’t reach. I use the Ponds Age Miracle Intensive Cell Regen™ Super SerumIt costs AED 49.50 for a bottle containing 30ml. I am absolutely in love with this serum. I cannot recommend it enough to you!. I love it so much that after my Olay serum gets over, I will be using this at night too. Also, I wont be repurchasing the Olay serum. This Ponds product is much superior in it’s performance and my skin absolutely loves it!. I am on my second bottle so far in this year. The first one was given for review purpose and the current one I am on was purchased by me.

Step 5 – Application of eye cream

I am using the Ponds Age Miracle Dual Action Eye Cream. It costs AED 44.95 for a container of 20ml. This is a really nice one. I use the Eye-o-sonic by Michael Todd’s True Organics to apply it.

Step 6 – Application of lip balm

Lips need more protection in the mornings. Even if you are staying inside the house, it would be great to wear a product that has SPF. I use the VLCC Cocoa Butter Lip Shield with SPF 10 in it. I bought this about 2 years ago from Manama Supermarket, Sharjah. I haven’t really seen this product in Lulu Center or Carrefour. I believe it cost me AED 7.50 and the little container is about 15 or 20ml. It is a light salmon color in the tub, however when you apply it on the lips it gives a transparent, balm like healthy sheen to it. It smells of cocoa butter and I love it.

Step 7 – Application of moisturizer

This is the very last step. I use the Olay Total Effects Day Moisturizer. It costs AED 51.25 for a bottle containing 50ml. It has SPF 15. Even if you are sitting t home, you should wear a cream with SPF in it. I love the pump on the bottle. It is so convenient and hygienic to use.

Three additional things I do in the mornings are scrub, masks and peel.

Scrub

Scrubs are crucial in a routine. It gets rid of dead skin cells from the surface of the skin and gives a radiant look. The more dead skin cells build up on your skin, the more dull it looks. Even though you might now think “Radiant skin, here I come! I am so gonna scrub my face every day”, let me stop you right there. Scrubs should never be used more than twice a week. If you do, more than doing good, you will harm your skin and cause miniature lacerations in the skin that you can’t even see. That will cause red, inflamed and irritated skin. I use scrubs every Monday and Thursday. I set the specific days since days fly by and sometimes I lose track of it. If I don’t set them, I keep wondering when was the last time I used it. “Was it within this week or end of last week?”. You get my point!. On the days that I use this, I don’t use the face wash.

My absolute favorite scrub is the Himalaya Herbals Walnut scrub with natural antioxidants. It smells amazing and does a really great job. After using it, my skin literally glows. It says on the tube it’s gentle, however I disagree. It’s a hardcore scrub. It costs AED 23.25 for 150 ml. Recently though, I saw it on sale for AED 19.25!. I grabbed it and this is now my back up. I don’t use any other scrubs on my face. This is my one and only as of right now!

Masks/Facials

I am inconsistent with using masks. If I am in the mood and I do it daily, I go for my DIY anti-aging facial. Otherwise, I do a mask probably once or twice a week (depends on my mood). Currently, I am loving Freeman’s Anti Stress mask with dead sea minerals. It’s costs AED 16.25 for 150 ml. This is a blue colored mask which really brightens the skin. This mask is good for all skin types.

I also go to a salon once in two – three months and get a professional facial. I go for either Kaya whitening facial (not because I am looking to achieve fairness but because this facial was suggested by the esthetician and really makes my skin radiant), Pearl facial or Papaya fruit facial. These work great for normal/dry skin.

Peel

Peels are great for achieving radiant looking skin. I started doing it after I got the Olay Regenerist Microdermabrasion and Peel system. I still have it and use it occasionally. Again, I have set days for it. I do it every Saturdays and Tuesdays. Once this gets over, I will repurchase it from Amazon, since it’s a phenomenal product. It costs $16.19 (AED59.46) plus shipping charges. I have never done a professional chemical peel at a salon.

Review: Ponds Age Miracle products!

Hello beautiful people 🙂

I am a huge fan of anything that helps the process of anti-aging. Recently, I tried out three products from the Age Miracle skincare range from Ponds. This range contains Intelligent Pro-cell Complex™, which is created by (and is a trade mark of) Ponds, after a decade of skin science research. I have been using these for more than a month now. Here are my thoughts on it:

Dual Action Eye Cream

This is the first time I have come across an eye cream which targets specific problem areas around the eyes. That means, a cream each for upper eyes and lower eyes!.

Blogpix 002

The pink cream, which is for upper eyes, is enriched with cell boosting Collagen, which helps reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and crow’s feet for a smooth and lifted look. The white cream, which is for under eyes, is powered by CLA (Conjugated Linoleic Acid), which helps stimulate skin to reduce puffiness and dark circles, thus instantly brightening up tired looking eyes.

The packaging is really pretty. It’s a glass container with a lid that separates both the creams. It contains 20 ml, which will last you a long while because a little goes a long way when it comes to eye creams.

Within 2 weeks of it’s usage I noticed significant difference with my dark circles. It really works. I feel like my upper eye area is looking better too. It’s consistency is perfect enough that you can easily pat it around the eyes and it gets absorbed super fast. The white cream is slightly thicker than the pink one, but still easy to work with. I say this product really lives up to it’s claims and so, this is one eye cream you got to be checking out right now.

Price : AED 44.95 for 20ml. Available at all local supermarkets.

Cell ReGEN™ Day Cream SPF 15

The packaging of this day cream is elaborate and nice. It’s a gorgeous glass container which is packed in a square plastic covering. The red lid is pretty and the container has a very unique shape. When you open it, there is a white lid (which I never discard in any creams, because I love how hygienic it is when the product doesn’t get smeared all over the main lid). It comes with a leaflet which shows all the products in this range (this comes along with the eye cream too).

Blogpix0001

I love the fact that this day cream contains SPF. This particular cream is for normal/dry skin. It helps renew skin faster and intelligently targets fine lines, wrinkles and age spots, resulting in exceptionally smooth skin.

The consistency is velvety and creamy. It has a pearlescent look. Being creamy, it gets absorbed fast. You need just the slightest amount to cover your entire face. It is pinkish white, with the slightest bit of shimmer in there, which leaves skin brightened up and looking youthful. It smells very pleasant and feels extremely light on the skin. The result is skin that is velvety soft to touch.

Blogpix0002

One thing I really dislike about it, is that it leaves a whitish tint on the skin. It shows very well on me because I have a dark skin tone. It might be because of the SPF content but even if that’s the reason, for SPF 15, it’s too much of a tint. I have got to say though that when my mom uses it (she has been using this range for some time now), the whitish tint doesn’t show really well because she has a fairer skin tone.

Overall, I recommend this cream to all because it gives such a soft skin tone. But I personally won’t use it again, because even though it has it’s pros, the whitish tint is a bit too much for me to work with.

Price: AED 52 for 50 gms. Available at all local supermarkets.

Intensive Cell ReGEN™ Super Serum

Serums are crucial to the skincare regimen because of it’s power to penetrate and go deeper into the skin cells. I just love serums. This super serum from Ponds is intensive and highly potent, containing 20 times the concentration of CLA when compared to the day cream (reviewed above). It dramatically boosts skin’s capacity for young cell generation.

Blogpix 005

It comes in a tall, metal like container, fitted with a pump. It contains 30ml. The serum has a pinkish hue and is absorbed by the skin extremely fast. I used three pumps of it on my face and two on my neck, both morning and night.

Blogpix 008

Dispensing the product is convenient and hygienic with the help of the pump. It has a very pleasant and soft smell that lingers on. This product lasts a month. I kind of expected it to last me a lot lesser time but 30 ml for a month is a good deal.

Blogpix 010

The result from using this serum is instant youthful looking and rejuvenated skin. I am not kidding you when I say ‘instant’. It really does get to work as soon as you apply it. My skin feels extremely hydrated and soft. I can’t tell you enough how much I love this serum. This is a definite buy for me in all the years to come.

Price: AED 49.50 for 30ml. Available at all local supermarkets.

I highly recommend you try Ponds Age Miracle skincare products. Your skin will definitely thank you!. Have you ever tried Ponds?. Let me know in the comments below.
