I am thrilled to review Wow by Wojooh’s Master Blender. It’s my first time ever trying a beauty sponge. This one is pink in color and came in a little plastic pack which said Master Blender on it.
It was slightly dense, the first time I took it out from the pack. It didn’t have much give when I squeezed it. Here, you can see how big it was originally.
To use it, I soaked it in water for a minute or so. It grew in size and became soft!. I squeezed out excess water from it and it was ready to use. I took a bit of foundation on the back of my hand, dipped the sponge in it and then applied it to my face in a circular motion, bouncing it slightly off the skin’s surface. Since the damp sponge is saturated with water, it doesn’t absorb the foundation, thus avoiding any wastage. Also the dampness overall gives a desirable dewy look to your face at the end of the application. The tip of the sponge is perfect to apply foundation/concealer in the inner corner of your eyes.
What I noticed is that, after acquiring this sponge, I haven’t reached for my foundation brush!. I freaking love this blender sponge so much!. It gives a streak free and flawless look. The end result is a ‘my-skin-but-better’ look ♥. You can use the Master Blender to apply eye shadow or to contour too. However, I haven’t tried that out yet.
I clean the sponge after every use, so as to keep it hygienic. It’s a sponge after all. It can harbor bacteria if you don’t cleaan it well. Using unclean products on your face can result in breakouts. Here is how I clean my Master Blender:
Here is what I started off with, before cleaning. Pretty dirty!. FYI : The foundation that I use is Make Up For Ever’s Liquid Lift Foundation. At first, I applied a makeup remover (Garnier’s Makeup Remover Milk) on it. I dampened it with warm water. Then I slowly worked the makeup remover into the sponge, rubbing it. On squeezing, most of the makeup was removed. Then I used a cleanser (Neutrogena’s Deep Clean cleanser) to repeat the ‘rubbing and squeezing under water’ process. Finally, all makeup was removed from the sponge.
I then wrapped the sponge in a paper towel and squeezed it, so that excess water came off efficiently. I did that twice, taking a new paper towel the second time. Then I left it standing on a flat surface overnight to dry. After cleaning this way, there were no traces of makeup left at all and the sponge was as good as new once again, as you can see below. Also, compare this picture with picture number two in this post to see the size difference, once it’s damp.
It didn’t shrink back to the original size after drying. It’s a soft sponge now. However, each time you use it, you need to wet it, so that the application of the foundation is flawless every single time!.
Price : AED 40
It’s easy to use and I highly recommend you check out this multi-purpose sponge. It is available exclusively at Wojooh stores (formerly known as Faces).
