Other Skincare products I use!

Hey guys!

When doing detailed posts on my skincare routine, I had decided to split it into three parts :

  • Night time routine (with all skincare basics),
  • Day time routine and
  • Other skincare products post, where I show all products that I haven’t shown in the above two posts.

So, this is the third part of my Skincare routine posts. Since, I didn’t want to show way too many products in the previous two posts and thus confuse you, I decided to do this one separately. Most of them have been reviewed earlier. If you wish to read and know more about the products, you may click the links to have them open in a new window. Here are all those products plus mini reviews, under each of the following category :

Makeup removers

IMG_1774

1) Bioderma Sensibio H2O Micelle solution – I absolutely love this one. It is so gentle and yet does an amazing job of removing makeup and impurities from the skin. Price : AED 35 for 100 ml (travel size).

2) St. Ives Makeup Remover & Facial cleanser – This has been my favorite for years now. It’s really thick and a tube lasts for so long. It is parabens and phthalates free and is a gentle formula. It has chamomile in it which is so calming for the skin. Price : AED 16.50 for 170gms.

Cleansers/Face washes

IMG_1776

1) Herbline Essentials White Lily & Ginger Face Wash – This is one of my latest favorites. I love this natural skincare brand and it’s products. They are so worth every penny you spend on them!. Read my full review here. Price : AED 109 for 150ml.

2) Neutrogena Deep Clean Facial Cleanser – Another brand that I really love and recommend. This is for Normal / dry skin and thus perfect for me. Read my full review here. Price : AED 36.50 for 200ml.

3) The Face Shop Green Tea Cleansing Foam – My least favorite one. I still reach for it sometimes since I hate wasting products. Read my full review herePrice : AED 41 (on sale) for 170 ml.

4) Neutrogena Visibly Clear Daily Wash – This was gifted to me by Sally. This product is actually for combination/oily skin. It’s green in color and has a lovely consistency. When I use it, my skin feels tight but I immediately moisturize after that. You must be wondering why do I use it then!. It’s the smell of it!. It has the most amazing citrus scent. It is uplifting and refreshing. Still, I use it only occasionally. Price : AED 44.75 for 200ml.

Scrub

IMG_1761

1) Everyuth Exfoliating Scrub – This is a very budget friendly scrub that I have been using quite regularly of late. Read my full review here. Price : Rs. 105 (AED 6.28) for 100 gms.

Serum

IMG_1777

1) Mad Hippie Exfoliating serum – This is my love since last October. A phenomenal serum that should be in everyone’s skincare collection, if they are into an anti aging routine. Read my full review herePrice : $27.99 (AED 102.81) for 30ml. I bought it online and had it shipped to me here in UAE, from US in 2 days.

Lip balms

IMG_1778

1) Vaseline Healthy White lip care : This one is a very handy lip balm which I bought from India. It’s basically Vaseline in a tube but it’s consistency is more better suited to easily pump out of the tube. It protects against UV & lip darkening. It guarantees 24 hour+ moisturization and I definitely recommend it. Price : Rs. 60 (AED 3.59) for 9 gms.

2) Neutrogen 6 hour Protection lip balm : This is so hydrating, I cannot recommend it enough!. It delivers almost immediate results. Dry and chapped lips are a thing of the past when I carry this around with me. I love it. Read my full review here. Price : 16.50 for 15 ml.

3) Himalaya Herbals Lip balm : This one contains Carrot seed oil and wheatgerm oil. It is intensely nourishing and I highly recommend it. I bought it from India. Price : Rs. 20 (AED 1.20) for 10 gms.

Moisturizers

IMG_1779

1) Human + Kind Anti Ageing cream – I have had this for a while now. It’s very hydrating and potent. When using this, I skip serum and eye cream that day since this one can be used in place of those. It’s multi purpose. I am about to finish this bottle. Read my full review here. Price : AED160 for 50 ml.

2) Herbline Essentials Nourishing cream – This is a miracle in jar. What a stunning product!. It helped me get through this really cold weather. It protected my skin against the drying, harsh winter. Definitely check this product out!. This tub lasted me about an year. It’s a recent empty product and so I decided to still show it. Read my full review here. Price : AED 141 for 50 gms.

3) Olay Age Perfect Anti- Ageing Cream – I love Olay like crazy. It’s an amazing brand. However, I hate this product. It’s consistency is nice and it gets absorbed into the skin fast. But it left my skin looking greasy and it has the weirdest smell ever. I bought this from India. It’s a Made in Thailand product. Usually, the Olay products sold here in UAe are made in Poland and they are top quality. But I noticed that the ones sold in India is either made n India or made in Thailand and imported there. Anyways, this cream didn’t do anything magical for me. Price : Rs. 125 (AED 7.45) for 18gms. Yes, it contains only 18 gms!. It’s a tiny tube.

4) Skin Drink from Lush – This is another brand that really helped my skin in the winter. It is so hydrating and becomes a shield against the cold winter nights. Totally recommend it!. Read my full review here. Price : AED 135 for 45 gms.

That’s all guys. I sure hope you got a good idea about some products out there that you might like to try. Take care of your skin and show it lots of love ♥

Review : Mad Hippie Exfoliating Face Serum!

Hi!

Last October, I bought Mad Hippie’s Exfoliating face serum from iHerb (Click here to see that haul post). I love serums. That’s no secret. Mad Hippie, though unusually named, is an advanced skincare brand. All of their products have very powerful, natural antioxidant ingredients. The more powerful the ingredients, the better the results are.

IMG_1358

I have been using it for about 2 months now and it’s a good time period to judge the product well. This serum contains 16 active ingredients in it. Those 16 ingredients are : Glycolic acid, Vitamin B5, Lactic acid, Matrixyl 3000, Vitamin C, Niacinamide, Sodium hyaluronate, White tea extract, Goji berry extract, PhytocellTec (Apple Stem cells of the rare Swiss apple which have been shown to protect skin cells from age related damages, in combination with a few other ingredients), Gigawhite (A natural blend of six organically grown alpine plants that lessen discoloration by inhibiting melanin production), Melatonin, Caffeine, Biotin, Tocopheryl acetate and Ceramide 3. This product contains no parabens, harmful chemicals, synthetic color or fragrance.

These ingredients work together to help shed dull, damaged skin & discoloration to reveal brighter, smoother skin. Within a couple of weeks, I could see the results!. My skin was visibly brighter. Even my family noticed it when they saw me after a gap of two weeks. There is a bouncy feel to my skin which is really healthy.

The outer packaging has cute floral designs on them. The brand believes in flower power and being close to nature when developing their products. The serum itself, comes in a dark brown glass bottle. It has a dropper, which is one of my favorite kind of packaging for such products. The serum is beige in color. It looks a bit sticky when you dispense it out through the dropper. However, when you apply it onto your face, it isn’t sticky at all. It’s almost liquid like, then. It gets absorbed into the skin, super fast. It smells like apple and coffee mixed together!. Though individually these smells are nice, combined am not a fan of it. So, I am disliking it’s scent however when looking at how amazing the product is, I can live with it!

Madhippie

The bottle contains 30 ml and will last a LONG time. You only need 2 drops each time. I give two long presses on the cap of the dropper. That dispenses enough amount to cover both my face and neck. The liquid consistency is easy to work with and spreads well. I use this every night right before applying an oil. To read my nighttime skincare routine, click here.

Since some of the ingredients in this serum can cause sensitivity to sun, it’s best advised to use it only at night. Use sunscreens, if you like to use it in the morning. I highly recommend this serum. This is one of the best serums I have ever used. It’s not just about having my skin brightened. It’s about the overall feeling of healthy skin that I just love!.

Price : $27.99 (AED 102.81) for a 30ml bottle. It seems really expensive but in the long run (since a bottle lasts really long), it’s a good investment. Also, iHerb has the lowest prices. It’s best to buy from there. Even Mad Hippie’s own website sells these for $34.99 (AED 128.52).

iHerb ships worldwide by the way. It ships from US, ultra fast. Use the code SCZ695 on your first purchase to receive an instant discount of upto $10.

Have you tried any of Mad Hippie’s skincare products?. If yes, do leave me a comment below.

Review : Jojoba & Clove organic oil treatment by Old Wives Tail!

Hello beautiful,

In this world that we live in, with various products loaded with chemicals and sold purely to make profit, Old Wives Tail emerges as a breath of fresh air.

OWTPicture taken from their site

OWT is a small hair care company, based in the UK, selling handmade, organic hair care products with absolutely no additives or chemicals!. Their main lifetime goal is to eradicate animal testing in the beauty industry and 10% of their profits go to charities that save animals from being tested upon!

The first time itself that I heard of OWT and their ethical approach to creating organic, cruelty products, it really appealed to me!. They make oil treatments and mask treatments for hair and also sell hair accessories and cosmetic brushes (with bamboo handles). I am delighted to review one of their hair oil treatments today.

It’s the Jojoba and Clove organic oil treatment. Each of their oil treatments target different hair problems. I chose the Jojoba & Clove one because it is made for dull, thinning, brittle and broken hair. After my rebonding experience, my sole goal has been to take as much care of my damaged hair as possible. This treatment seemed just perfect!. It came wrapped in a very pretty printed napkin, which is so lovely!. I could see that extreme care has been taken to package the product, so that there is no damage caused during transit.

OldWivesTail 001

Once the napkin was removed, there was a plastic wrap inside with a little sheet which listed the benefits and usage directions of the product.

OldWivesTail 004

The product is solid/creamy in consistency, yellow in color and filled to the brim of the container.

OldWivesTail 013

OldWivesTail 020

Truth be told, seeing the container, I felt it’s way too small. Looking at the picture on their site, I had expected it to be much bigger. Ofcourse, it’s mentioned there that it’s 100ml but still, that info hadn’t registered with me. Seeing the container in real, placed in my hand, I wondered how little 100ml actually is. I thought to myself that this surely isn’t going to last me a long while.

OldWivesTail 009

I have long hair that reaches around my elbow level. You can imagine my surprise when I had to use only 1/2 a tbsp (shown below) for my entire hair!!. It’s solid at room temperature. So, I took a little bit in between both my hands and rubbed them together. Your body temperature makes it melt into a luxurious oil. Then I spread it on my hair, massaging it on the roots first and then onto my entire hair. My husband quite loved this treatment too. For him, I used a little less than 1/2 a tsp.

OldWivesTail 021

Here is some info about the product from their site – The pure organic jojoba oil penetrates every hair follicle to add strength, volume and texture to weak, lifeless hair. This treatment has both anti-bacterial and stimulating properties which when massaged onto the scalp will naturally sooth, balance and stimulate your roots to encourage healthy hair growth.

Directions for use: Use on damp hair and massage into your scalp. Leave the treatment on for one hour. Rinse with fresh water and shampoo. Repeat this process until your hair feels clean and product free. After shampooing you can use conditioner on the ends of your hair only. Rinse out thoroughly and style as normal. If your locks are really damaged, then use twice a week leaving the oil on overnight wrapped in a warm towel. Store in a cool, dry, dark place – A cupboard in a ventilated bathroom is fine to store your hair treatment.

As directed, I applied it on damp hair. Once it was washed off, my hair looked shiny and felt healthy. Also, the color of my black hair seemed to look more intense after the treatment! It’s main smell is that of cloves. It’s a beautiful and strong smell that lingers on your hair even after you wash it off with shampoo. I could smell that pleasant smell even the next day!. I use it only once per week.

Here are the all-natural ingredients in this amazing product : Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Karite Butter Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter) Fruit, Eugenia Caryophyllus (Clove) Flower Oil, Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil.

It is made with certified organic ingredients only. It’s paraben free, sulfate free, gluten free, vegan & vegetarian with no animal testing. I loved this treatment and I really recommend you try it!. OWT offers free worldwide delivery on any order, which is a huge plus!. I got my package by post via Royal Mail.

Price: $22.76 (AED83.60) for a 100ml container

Review: Herbline Essentials products!

Hey you all!

Herbline Essentials is a range of truly natural beauty products for the face, body and hair. All products are made from 100% natural ingredients sourced in the Himalayas and adhere to the principles of Ayurveda to provide long term benefits for a healthy body and mind.

I was so excited to try out two products from HE. Before going onto my review, please note that my skin type is normal, leaning towards dry (particularly in winter):

1) Aloe Vera, Apricot & Sunflower Nourishing Cream : This is a rich and nourishing formula. I have been using this for two months now. This cream is just perfect for cold, dry winter mornings. This cream really lives up to it’s name as ‘nourishing cream’. It moisturizes dry skin in a jiffy and keeps it nourished for a long time. I felt like it completely heals my dry skin, by hydrating it and keeps my skin looking fresh and supple.

Blogpix 029

It comes in a tub containing 50 gms. There is a transparent lid inside which makes sure the cream doesn’t get smeared over the main lid.

Blogpix 031

It’s consistency is really rich and heavy. But for such a thick cream, it gets absorbed within seconds, leaving your skin radiant, soft, hydrated and looking youthful. Once you spread the cream onto your skin, there is a cool sensation which lasts quite a while and you really feel the dryness getting healed.

Blogpix 033

It has a really mild and pleasant smell. It also contains SPF 10. I use this in the morning, right after my shower. This is a cream for Normal/Dry skin. The ingredients of this cream are Spring Water, Aloe Vera Gel, Sunflower oil, Coco Palm Wax, Apricot Oil, Almond Oil. Phenoxyethanol and Natural fragrance.

It’s a bit pricey, at AED 141 for 50gms but a great investment, since you get all the natural goodness and it really benefits your skin. Click here to buy this directly from Herbline Essentials’s e-store for USD38.31 (AED140.71) and they ship free of charge in UAE!. This cream is also sold on Mumzworld.com, Glambox.me and Souq.com for AED141 and also available at most of the pharmacies in UAE.

2) Cucumber & Rose Water Skin Tonic : I received a travel size version of this in a Glambox, sent to me for review, which you can read by clicking here.

Blogpix 009

This tonic contains pure natural extracts of cucumber and rose, to cool and soften the skin. It is blended with a natural moisturizer and a mild astringent. It’s light pink in color with a beautiful smell that reminds you straight away of a rose. The smell lingers on for a little while.

It comes in a bottle with a pump. After many uses, I was like “Why is this tonic not getting used up??”, because the level had not gone down in the bottle. It’s funny!.

20140213_112142

But that’s when I noticed that there is a base, inside the bottle which gets sucked up with each pump. It’s clever. After nearly a month and a half of use (both day and night), I am done with the 30ml bottle. It sure lasted me a good while because 30ml is really just a little. I have saved this bottle because once the base is pushed back all the way down, you can refill and reuse the bottle and seriously, with a pump as neat as that one, I can’t really throw it out!. I am planning to fill it up with a DIY toner.

This tonic has to be applied onto a cotton pad and gently dabbed onto your face. It has a cool feel to it and your skin looks instantly fresh and feels soft. I really loved it. When it got over, I was pretty sad. That smell is just so nice, I miss it!. This tonic is for Normal/Dry skin type.

The ingredients in this tonic are Spring Water, Rose Water, Cucumber Extract, Glycerol Vegetalis, Natural Fragrance, Sodim Benzoate, Phenoxyethanol, FDA approved colour.

Click here to buy this directly from Herbline Essentials’s e-store for USD28.54 (AED104.83) and they ship free of charge in UAE!. This cream is also sold on Mumzworld.com and Glambox.me for AED105 and also available at most of the pharmacies in UAE.

I am really impressed with Herbline Essentials brand. You can feel it’s natural goodness working wonders on your skin. I highly recommend you their products. Note: I was given a complimentary Nourishing Cream for review purpose. All opinions are 100% my own.
