The Most Popular Fermented Skin Care Products!

Fermenting ingredients isn’t a new concept. In fact, our ancestors have used this method as a means to preserve food and drinks when modern preservation techniques have yet to be introduced. By adding microorganisms into the product, it then releases a series of enzymes which breaks it down further for easier digestion.

Some of the most popular fermented ingredients that are still heavily consumed today include wine, yogurt, and various pickled vegetables and fruit. Today, modern innovations have taken the benefits of fermentation by applying its very principle into certain ingredients which can be readily used in skincare products like Memebox.

By adding probiotics and adjusting the fermentation process, these enzymes readily break down these ingredients into a component that can be easily absorbed by the skin without adding artificial ingredients. This makes fermented skin care products safer and more ideal for people with sensitive skin.

If you are looking to hydrate your skin as well as minimize signs of ageing, adding a fermented skin care product into your routine can add various benefits into your skin barrier and give you stunning results. Here are some other fermented skin care products to choose from:

1. Rice

Rice

Beauty products made from fermented rice water have just started to gain popularity although it has been considered a staple in various Asian beauty regimens for centuries. The reason why fermented rice water has gained popularity over the years is because many researchers noticed the soft and youthful looking hands of sake brewers and realized the amount of vitamins and amino acids these rice water derived from this process.

2. Green tea

Drinking green tea has been known to provide various health benefits. Some of which include improved better digestion, boosting brain cells, and lowering the chances of developing certain types of cancers. In skin care, cleansers that contain fermented green tea extract is considered a must-try for oily and acne-prone skin.

The reason for this is because fermented green tea extracts provide numerous skin care benefits like brightening and hydrating effects while removing certain impurities like sweat and dirt accumulated throughout the day. Additionally, green tea does not strip the skin of your natural oils so there is less chance of your skin producing more sebum than necessary.

3. Apple Cider Vinegar toner

Toners are an essential part of every skin care routine because it restores the normal pH levels of the skin, preventing it from becoming susceptible to dryness. When it comes to making your very own fermented toner, applying 1 part of Apple Cider Vinegar and 1 part filtered water into a bottle can be a great way to save money while also letting your skin enjoy its numerous benefits.

ACV is a simple byproduct of the fermentation of apples and has been known as a popular antiseptic and antibacterial solution for ages. Some of its benefits include restoring the natural pH of the skin, lightening sun spots, improving acne and acne scars, and removing excess oil and makeup that are difficult to remove.

4. Yogurt sheet masks

Yogurt is another fermented food source that provides the gut with good bacteria. It’s also loaded with calcium and is considered a great snack for those who are looking to improve their figures. As a skincare product, numerous sheet masks and DIY formulas containing yogurt are available due to the fact that it can improve the skin in numerous ways.

For dry skin, a weekly face mask of yogurt added with honey helps hydrate the skin while removing visible signs of ageing due to the lactic agent present in yogurt as well as the natural antibacterial properties of honey.

5. Red wine

Red wine

Aside from being a great partner for meals and a way to relax, using red wine as a skincare product can also help provide numerous anti-ageing benefits that help keep your skin looking young and healthy. While there have been numerous studies that show the benefits of consuming red wine, many experts also claim that using red wine as a DIY facial or topical solution restores our body’s collagen fibers which are responsible in keeping our skin firm.

Fermented skin care products provide numerous benefits because they are subjected to a special process that makes use of its natural ingredients. By limiting the amount of chemicals added, using these skin products help reduce the chance of developing dangerous side effects. While this may be true, people who are considering looking for certain items may still need to do a skin patch test or consult with their dermatologist just in case.

Review : My Shopping Experience at Born Pretty Store!

Hey guys!

Today I am reviewing Born Pretty Store, an online shopping site that ships worldwide. I have got 6 items from there. Please find my views on them below :

Born Pretty store

1) Bonnie Choice matte liquid lip color – This is in the color Human Nature #6. It’s an extremely pigmented, creamy, matte purple color. On my hand swatch you can see the exact color. But on lips, it tends to go lighter.. a more natural color which I quite loved. It’s waterproof and thus long lasting.

Bonnie Choice

Lips

The applicator wand is soft and very convenient for application. One coat would do the trick. So this bottle will last a good while.

Price : $3.59 for a 7gms bottle.

It’s available in 7 other colors too!.

2) Facial Mixing Silicone brush – This is my absolute favourite of the 6 items I got. It’s just so fantastic. If you are a regular reader of my blog, you’ll know what a skincare fanatic I am.

Mud mask face brush

What I love the most about silicone products is that they are very hygienic. They don’t harbour bacteria like the conventional face brushes. I got this in the color pink.

Mud mask face brush

This little beauty tool helps keep my hands clean when mixing and applying face masks. It’s so handy, lightweight and easy to use. It’s ergonomically designed for a perfect facial application experience.

Price – $2.39

It’s available in 4 other colors!

3) After 90 Matte lipstick – Got this in the color #19 Charming. It’s a gorgeous nude color but on application it takes on a light pink color. Even though I love it’s texture, I feel it would look better on lighter skin tone than WOC. It has an outer and inner packaging & the tube itself looks different from a typical lipstick tube.

Pink lipstick

Pink lips

Price – $2.59 for a tube containing 3.8 gms.

It comes in 9 other colors too, even though 8 of them seems to be ‘Sold out’ for some time now.

4) Lovely Puppet lip balm – These are probably the cutest lip balms ever. Shaped like little ladies wearing Kimono, these are clear, smells soo fruity & is moisturising.

Lip balm

Price – $0.99 for a 2.4gms tube.

When you order this, you can’t select a Kimono pattern. A random one will be sent to you.

5) Magical Halo Lip/Eye liner – I got this in the number 14. It’s a slight pinkish purple color. I chose this because I thought it would go well with the two lip colors I have chosen.

Lip liner

It is not pigmented at all. I didn’t like it’s quality. This is my least favourite item of this lot.

Price – $0.99 for a 1.1gms pencil.

6) Bonnie Choice Liquid concealer – I like the texture of this one. It’s a creamy formula, eaay to work with and to apply with the applicator wand.

Concealer

Unfortunately due to some mistake I made during the ordering process, I chose the lighest color. That is so not like myself at all, that at first I thought it was a mistake from the store’s side. But I checked my order and there it was as clear as day.. I chose #10 instead of #30. It’s available in 6 colors.

Price : $2.99 for a 6 gms tube.

Overall, my shopping experience at Born Pretty store was an easy breezy one. They stock over 10,000 products & is very inexpensive. The staff are very courteous and very helpful should you need any help. They ship worldwide for free. Mine reached via post in just 10 days (from China to India)!.

Discount Code

The people over at Born Pretty Store were kind enough to offer my readers a 10% discount code!. It’s WER1H10. Please note that it is valid for original price products only (meaning it’s not applicable on already discounted/on-sale products).

If the above discount code is used by 5 or more of you, they have agreed to sponsor a giveaway for you guys, right here on my blog. So, I urge you to check out this awesome shopping site.

Five beauty products that are totally worth the money!

When considering which beauty products to buy, you might be wondering whether or not it’s worth it to spend more. Are less expensive products just as effective as their more expensive counterparts? You might be surprised to learn that when it comes to beauty products, sometimes spending more means getting better results.

Find out which beauty products are totally worth the money. From makeup and skincare to hair products, here’s the low down on products that you shouldn’t skimp on when it comes to finances.

Moisturizer

Moisturiser

When it comes to facial moisturizers, you’ll want a quality product that’s filled with nourishing ingredients. Some of the less expensive products on the market tend to have ingredients that can cause adverse effects including drying, acne, or even redness.

If you have oily skin, you’ll need a light moisturizer that’s free of oils and will be absorbed by the skin quickly. On the other hand, if your skin is very dry, you’ll want a hydrating moisturizer that will leave your skin looking dewy and radiant.

For your whole body, a moisturizer designed for the body is ideal, and, like your facial moisturizer, should be designed for your skin type.

Because of the many different factors that go into choosing a moisturizer, it’s perfectly fine to splurge on one that’s designed specifically for your skin.

Primers

There are dozens of types of primers on the market. There’s face primer, eye primer, and lip primer. There are color-correcting primers, primers with SPF, primers that prevent acne, cream primers, gel primers, and even powder primers. With so many different primers on the market, you might wonder, Which one do I need?

It’s wise to choose a quality primer that you can use over the entire face, but if you’re using cream shadows it’s good to invest in a good eye primer. Love red lipstick? You might want to invest in a quality lip primer, too.

When choosing a primer, again it’s important to know your skin type. There are primers that will hydrate, hide blemishes, brighten the skin, and tighten the pores. Understand what you need and choose a primer that will do more than add wear time to your makeup.

Foundation

Foundation

Foundation is one of those products that you can waste a lot of money on if you don’t get one that’s perfect for your skin. This is why it’s recommended to spend a little more on a product that you know will work for you. Spending more on foundation is absolutely worth it.

Inexpensive foundations might provide little coverage, dry out the skin, or end up looking cake-y. In some cases, inexpensive foundation brands do not have enough shades to match your skin tone. Having a foundation that matches your skin tone closely is absolutely necessary for a flawless look. With that said, it’s best to just skip the drugstore.

Not sure which foundation is right for you? Head on over to your local makeup counter and talk to an expert. They’ll help you find the right shade and formulation for your skin tone and skin type. Do you need a tinted moisturizer or a full-coverage foundation? These are questions that they can help answer.

Also, keep in mind that during the summer and winter months, your foundation shade will change. This is another reason why spending more is better when it comes to your foundation.

Hair Brushes

Not only will cheap brushes wear out more quickly than a pricier brush, but the bristles on cheap brushes can actually damage your hair!

The plastic bristles on inexpensive brushes can pull and break your hair, leading to split ends and hair that has completely broken off. Boar bristle hair brushes are gentler on the hair, reducing breakage. They distribute natural scalp oils throughout the hair shaft, boosting shine and hydration. are highly recommended for all hair types. They do cost much more than the cheap brushes, but are totally worth the investment—and in some cases, can last a lifetime!

Shampoo and Conditioner

If you’ve ever tried a drugstore brand of shampoo or conditioner and then switched to a more expensive brand, chances are you notice a huge difference in the two.

According to experiments conducted by Huddersfield University and led by chemist Dr. Laura Waters, expensive shampoos actually do provide better treatment to your hair in comparison to the less expensive shampoos. Most of the cheaper shampoos do not contain conditioning agents, which reduce static after washing. It was also found that the less expensive products make hair attract even more dirt!

Needless to say, by switching to a high-quality shampoo and conditioner, you can go longer in between washings and reduce static and breakage, leading to healthier hair. So, it’s absolutely worth it to spend more on shampoo and conditioner!

The next time that you’re shopping for beauty products, remember that less doesn’t always mean more. From skincare products to hair care, it’s absolutely worth it to spend more on certain brands.

Review : French Lavender Body Oil by EO!

Hey guys,

I am a fan of body lotions as opposed to creams or anything else. But occasionally I like to try body oils and when I came across this one by the brand EO Products (which is one of my favorite skincare brands), in my favorite scent, lavender, I decided to try it. I bought this online on iHerb, a US based site that ships worldwide.

EO French Lavender body oil

It comes in a tinted dark blue plastic bottle with a convenient flip open cap. With oils, you will need only a little for each application. As such, this bottle which contains 236ml should last me several months!. It is not greasy at all and gets absorbed into the skin really fast. It’s moisturizing. It is clear and is a very light weight oil.

Body oils, according to me, should be applied to slightly damp skin for maximum absorption. It’s perfect when you have just stepped out of the bath. The scent of this oil is just so magical and invigorating. Unlike the lavender scented air freshners you come cross that smells horrid, this one is as natural as it can be.

This brand is cruelty free & gluten free and goes by the motto ‘Love life, Live clean’. It doesn’t contain synthetic fragrances, artificial colors/dyes, parabens, phthalates or SLS, which is just great ♡. I have previously tried their Rose & Chamomile body lotion which had made me a huge fan of this brand. You can read that product review here.

Crueltyfree

The ingredients of this oil are, in no particular order – Organic Jojoba oil, sweet almond oil, sunflower oil, safflower oil, lavender essential oil, lavandin essential oil and vitamin E.

Price : $12.74 (Approx AED 47) for a bottle containing 236ml.

It’s totally worth it and I highly recommend you try this out, especially if you are a huge fan of lavender scent like me!.

Review : Glamego Feb 2018 Beauty Box!

Hey dearies,

With February’s box, Glamego has just reaffirmed the fact that they are indeed India’s No.1 beauty subscription box. Titled ‘Classy Flaunt’, this time the box contains 4 full sized products worth Rs 2000, while the box itself costs only Rs 299!

Glamego February box

Here are the products in detail :

● Mcaffeine Choco face pack – This comes in 2 variants – gel based for dry skin and clay based for oily skin. I like that Glamego is truly a personalized box. I received the one for dry skin because they asked me my preference beforehand.

Mcaffeine choco face pack

Chocolate and caffeine, both are powerhouse ingredients that bring out the glow in your skin while pumping it with antioxidants. This mask looks just so yummy and smells delicious. God knows how I resisted just eating it up. Lol!.

I applied this creamy mask for about 15 mins and washed off with cool water. It left my skin looking radiant and youthful. I love this brand, which is India’s first caffeinated personal care brand.

This product is worth Rs 359 for a tub containing 25ml.

● Kronokare Pollu-Stop face – This colorless mist is one of a kind, I feel. It helps in warding off pollution from our face. How cool is that!. It’s perfect for those who spend a lot of time outside. It actually acts as an invisible shield against pollution nano particles and thus helps protect, nourish & soothe the skin.

Kronokare Pollu stop face

It has a strong scent which am not really a fan of. The product itself gives a barely there look when sprayed on the face. It can be used before or after applying a face cream. It comes fitted with a fine nozzle and as such spraying with it creates a nice mist.

It specifically says ‘face’ in it’s name because this same product is available for the hair too that helps our tresses fight against pollution. It’s actually one of the products in Glamego’s March box.

This product is free of sulfates, silicone, parabens, fragrance or mineral oil. It’s worth Rs 495 for a bottle that contains 30 ml.

● The Nature’s Co Radiance face cream – This is hands down my favorite product in this box. It’s main ingredient is saffron, something that’s very expensive and wonderful. It smells of saffron itself.

Nature's Co saffron radiance face cream

Saffron helps in making the skin radiant and am so glad I got to try out this cream. The texture of it is so unlike regular face creams. It’s balm like, slightly viscous and yet when applied on skin, it slides on smoothly like a rich cream. A little goes a long way.

[This pic is from my Instagram. Do follow me, if you aren’t already].

The tub is super tiny, containing only 25 ml. But, guess what?. It costs a cool Rs 550!.

The ingredients list is as follows : Saffron, Aloe Vera extract, Grapeseed oil, Jojoba oil, Wheatgerm oil, Almond oil, cream base, aroma & natural preservatives. This brand is cruelty free & eco friendly.

● Bella Voste Perfect lip gloss – This was one of the products I received in the January box too (read that review here). But I selected a different shade this time. It’s a light, gorgeous pink shade called Pop of Pink.

Bella voste pop of pink

Overall, I love that the general theme of this box is to bring out the best in your skin. I am all about skincare as some of you already know.

I highly recommend Glamego. You can sign up here.

Review : Everyuth’s Three Latest Skincare Products!

Hello!

Everyuth is one of my favorite, budget friendly brands in India. Today I will be reviewing three of their latest products.

Everyuth skincare products

Golden glow peel off mask – Am not a fan of peel off masks. However, this one sure made me fall hard because the results were such. It says ’15 mins radiance’ on the tube and I have to agree.

Peel off mask

It gives glowing, soft skin. It contains 24 Karat Gold Collagenine Boosters and Orange peel extracts that helps in getting a golden glow.

It smells wonderful, like freshly cut oranges and has such a gorgeous orange color with golden swirls in it. I use it on washed skin that has been patted dry. It’s best to apply a thick, generous layer since that facilitates easy peeling off. If you apply a thin layer, it will dry fast and then kinda stick to your skin.

Then leave it on for 15 mins. It will start to feel dry. Then start peeling downwards from the forehead area. I usually use it once a week. It’s especially great to use right before attending an event since that golden glow is really noticeable..

I highly recommend this product 👍

Price : Rs 105 for a 90 gms tube.

Tulsi Turmeric Face wash – This is an anti acne, anti marks formula. Tulsi & turmeric are both known for it’s anti bacterial & antiseptic properties.

Face wash for acne prone skin

It comes in a light green bottle with a convenient, flip open lid. The product is also light green in color and has teeny tiny pieces of tulsi suspended in it. It smells of turmeric and tulsi mixed together & thus is a strong scent that I didn’t like at all.

Surprisingly, even though it sounds like a product that’s especially made for those with oily skin, it says here at the back of the bottle that it’s suitable for all skin types. I did try it out even though I have normal to dry skin. It didn’t dry out my skin but there was the slightest feeling that it didn’t suit me and thus I immediately applied a skin cream to moisturize my skin.

I passed it on to my father who has oily skin and he really loved it.

Price : Rs 90 for a bortle containing 100gms.

Exfoliating Walnut scrub – I absolutely love this product. In fact, scrubs with walnut shell particles are my favorite because they get the job done and helps in removing dead skin cells, leaving the skin feeling and looking soft. It has a lovely soothing scent.

Walnut face scrub

I have been using Everyuth’s walnut scrub for several years now. It used to come in a blue colored tube before. This tube is a new look and advanced formula. It contains Nano Multi vita too, that nourishes and revitalizes the skin. I use this twice a week.

Definitely, this is a highly recommended product 😚

Price : Rs 70 for a 50 gm tube.

Review : Mediheal’s Dress Code Sheet Masks (2 variants)!

Hey guys,

Recently Skin18 sent me three MediHeal Dress Code sheet masks, as part of their ongoing Reviewer Programme (which you can join too, even if you are a newbie blogger (Minimum requirement : 500 followers), by clicking here). So, here are the masks I got :

Mediheal dress code sheet masks

Two were the same type. So, my review will be for 2 variants. The ones I got were –

a) Black (For Whitening) &

b) Violet (For Tone Up Care)

These masks are very sturdy, high quality but yet so soft and stretchy. They are easy to apply and fuss free. Both of these give a snug fit on the face. They feature masquerade ball mask designs on them and are probably the most beautiful masks I’ve ever tried on!.

Violet mask

This one contains acai berry, pomegranate & mulberry extracts. Since its formulated with hyaluronic acid & hydrolyzed collagen, it helps seal in moisture & enhance skin elasticity. Other ingredients in this are witch hazel, lavender, olive & fig extracts among other ingredients.

The mask uses advanced fiber material with high transparency and 3D cutting. The special dye used in it (which is harmless) causes no staining or discoloration. Its safety formula combines care and beauty, bringing a new concept of visual mask!. This one really hydrated and nourished my skin.

Black mask

This one is formulated with Pearl powder extract which is known for exceptional whitening properties. Pearl is effective in moisturizing and anti-aging, can protect and revitalize the damaged skin as well as improve upon skin problems. This mask too uses advanced fiber material like the Violet one. Other fantastic ingredients in this are royal jelly, caviar & honey extracts among many other fab ingredients.

Even after a single use, I felt a dramatically refreshed, more brighter look. I am not much into whitening skin hype but I can see whitening ingredients such as Niacinamide listed in the ingredients list.

Btw, I am pretty shocked to see how extravagant this one looks. It has red stones on them!. How gorgeous 💖

The masks are brimming with essence. There was only a little essence inside the packs. Rest were all contained within the masks itself.

The Black mask has a lovely, pleasant scent but the Violet one’s scent isn’t that great. Both are cool to touch and non greasy. I left these on cleansed skin for 20-25 mins. Both contain 27 ml of product.

I do recommend you try these masks. The only problem I found with it is that both has parabens in them. Unlike some of the other sheet masks I’ve tried, these contain no alcohol. So, that’s a plus.

Price : Around $2 (Approx AED 7.35) for each of these masks. They are definitely budget friendly.

Review : Balancing Essential Micellar Water Mist by Brillare Science!

Happy New Year, dear friends!

I always make sure the first thing I post in a new year is very special. Today am reviewing Brillare Science’s Balancing Essential Micellar Water Mist, which is very special indeed & my favorite cleanser/make up remover at the moment.

Micellar water

Before that, I wish to discuss about the brand. Their unique approach is about focusing on the entire list of ingredient that goes in formulating a product. Keeping the ingredients as natural as possible, using only the clinically verified actives, blending them with target delivery techniques and making them 100% free from harmful/toxic/allergic chemicals. So, it’s free from parabens, formaldehyde, artificial fragrance and color.

It works well for the following :

● Pore rebalance
● Deep cleaning
● Makeup removal

Micellar water mists are known to really deep clean. So, its perfect to use before going to bed at night or even while you are outside. It comes in a very sturdy plastic, handy spray bottle. The nozzle is tiny, so it sprays well and as it’s name says, is a mist.

Micellar water

The product looks and feeks like water. However when the bottle is agitated, it becomes frothy. When I read ‘pore rebalance’, I automatically thought its for those with oily skin. However, it’s thankfully for all skin types.

The way it should be used is to spray 4 – 5 times on to a cotton pad. It immediately starts to foam.

I have darkened the pic so that the foam is more clear.

It feels so soft and silky on the skin and leaves the skin looking very clean, plump and youthful. The key actives are Red Algae extract, Papaya extract & gycerin. It’s smell is absolutely amazing & luxurious!.

These are the sides of the packaging.

Price : Rs 750 for a 100 ml bottle. It’s definitely on the pricey side. However, considering all the goodness packed to it, it’s a worthy investment.
