Review : Glow Radiance Defy powder!

Hi guys,

It’s my first time trying a Collagen & Hyaluronic Acid food supplement. Collagen as you might already know, makes the skin more elastic and youthful, while Hyaluronic Acid helps the skin retain moisture, thus keeping it hydrated.

Glow Radiance’s Defy powder contains 5000mg of hydrolized collagen, which is pretty concentrated and 50mg of Sodium Hyaluronate in each serving. Serving size is 1 scoop, which comes along with the powder. I was pretty excited trying this product since it’s being ingested and hence works on a cell level. Surely there are many products out there which can be applied topically. Ofcourse they do work well but the Defy powder is superior since it’s a food supplement that has a fast absorption.

Glow Radiance defy

This powder comes in a tin and contains 200 gms. It’s a 40 days supply. I waited until I completed the entire course before doing this review, so that I can write a thorough one. The result is amazing!. My skin looks really great and I even got many compliments on my hydrated, moisturised skin. Since many know that I keep trying new creams and such, the common question was ‘Which cream are you using currently?’. Lol!.

Glow Radiance Defy powder

The powder is cream in color, has a strange smell and tastes pleasant. It’s an umami taste. To use it, simply dissolve a scoop of powder in a glass of water after meal once daily. It contains no sugar, salt, starch, yeast, milk, egg, shellfish, preservatives, artificial flavors or color & is made in France.

My skin looks plumped, youthful, more supple and as if there is an inner glow. Glow Radiance’s motto itself is ‘Boost beauty from within’ which I think is really apt. It was during the third week that I started noticing an overall smooth effect. I would highly recommend this product to anyone who wishes to defy age itself (i.e. to an extent).

One thing I found a bit disappointing was that I thought it would diminish my smile lines which are a bit deep, since I smile a lot :D. But it didnt affect it at all. My eye area looks better though and I feel the fine lines there have softened. It also helps in keeping more lines at bay.

Price : AED 270 for a 200 gms tin

Definitely a product worth checking out if you are into an anti-aging skincare routine, just like me. Click here to buy.

Review : GlowRadiance Micellar Water!

I am quite excited about this product that I am reviewing today. It’s GlowRadiance’s Micellar Water (pronounced as my-cellar). It is a light weight, efficient cleansing water that removes impurities and all traces of makeup from your face easily.

GlowRadiance Micellar Water

It looks just like water but is a gentle, yet powerful cleanser. What I love the most is that it’s a non rinse formula!. Super convenient ♡. It’s also alcohol free, oil free and soap free.

This product can be used on eyes and lips too. It does sting a bit if you manage to get it in your eye, like I once did. So, be careful when applying on the eye area. It leaves skin feeling really refreshed, soft and decongested. In order to use it, soak a cotton pad with it and apply on your face. After that, simply follow it up with your toner and then rest of your skincare regimen. I highly recommend you try out this micellar water.

It’s packaged in a tall, pretty, transparent bottle with a golden lid. Most of what’s written on the bottle about the product, is in golden font which just enhances the rich feel of the brand. I have been using this for almost a month now and judging by the amount I have used up, I have a feeling that this bottle will last for about 4 – 5 months, which is really great!.

Price : AED 95 for a bottle containing 200ml.

GlowRadiance is a relatively new brand here in UAE. It is a high-end brand for skin and health supplements, that consists of a collection of lavish treatments for the face and body. All their products are medicated and available in pharmacies and online (www.basharashop.com).

Review : January 2016 Glambox!

Hiya people,

Though late, here are my thoughts about January’s Glambox 2016. First of all, what a delight finding majority of skincare products in here!. I feel Glambox is concentrating more on skincare rather than makeup and I definitely support and appreciate that. When you have gorgeous skin, you will need only the slightest amount of makeup and also it will apply more easily on smooth skin. That’s what I believe any way.

January Glambox

Onto the products in detail,

1) Eucerin Even Brighter Pigment Reducing Concentrate – I literally yelped seeing this advanced skincare product in the box. It’s supposed to reduce pigmentation, even the skin tone and overall make it brighter. It contains concentrated B-Resorcinol & Glycyrrhetinic Acid, which helps protect against the production of melanin and supports skin cells’ repair of damage induced by prematurely ageing UV-Sunlight, respectively.

Eucerin Even Brighter Concentrate

There are 6 little tubes, each containing 5 ml, neatly arranged into a gorgeous plastic display box. Each vial lasts 1 week, used twice a day. I kind of had a doubt that 5 ml will last that long. But it did last me 7 – 8 days. I have finished all 6 of them and waited around to do this post so that I can completely try it out and voice my opinion about it.

It’s white in color, has a light scent and has the consistency of a serum that gets absorbed really fast into the skin. Within 4 weeks, my skin looked much better, definitely brighter and more even toned. You should be using the product right after toner and before applying a face oil. I really love this product. This 6 weeks product supply is worth about AED 167 and it’s amazing that I could try it out through Glambox. This also happens to be the first ever Eucerin product that I have tried.

2) Three Maxon samples from their Hydramax skincare range, that promises to deliver more hydration. Maxon is a Canadian brand that’s now available in UAE.

Maxon Hydramax

● Cream – Such a gorgeous cream, that can be used both in morning and night. It intensely hydrates skin and I really love it. The sample came in a 7 ml tube and has a thick consistency.

● Foaming Gel – This is an OK product. Does a good job of what it’s supposed to do, that is, cleanse the skin. It lathers well, has a transparent look, thick consistency and a nice scent. I have a feeling that this would be really suitable for oily skin tone rather than my skin type (normal, leaning towards dry). The sample came in a 7 ml tube.

● Cleansing Tonic – This is such a dream product, absolutely priceless. Since it’s watery, I can’t help but think of Bioderma’s SensiBio cleanser and compare it with this one. Maxon would definitely win a showdown between these 2 products!.

Maxon Cleansing Tonic

It’s transparent with a blue suspension on top of it. I give it a good shake, pour a bit onto a cotton pad and cleanse my skin. Even with one swipe, it removes a great amount of makeup and impurities, all the while being absolutely gentle on the skin. It leaves skin looking dewy. It’s definitely a fantastic product that I would buy a full size of, at the next chance I get to go shopping!. The sample came in a 30 ml bottle. This is the main reason I love Glambox. It introduces us to wonderful products like these.

3) Delicca Powder Face Wash – It’s my first time coming across such a product. It’s a yellow powder that needs to be mixed with water and used on the face. It smells so beautiful, exactly like the Papaya facial I usually get at beauty parlour, even though there is no papaya in this product!. It cleans skin well and leaves it looking healthy, soft and fresh, without stripping it of moisture. It is sulphate free. This is a full sized product containing 40 gms. Even though I liked it much, I don’t understand the convenience of such a product, since you need to mix it with water first and such, before application.

Delicca

4) DMGM Smoky Desire XS Eyeliner – First time hearing about this brand. I got this in the color ‘Nude Beige’. Personally, I don’t care much for this color. I don’t think it suits Indian skin tone. I used it to highlight above and underneath my brow bone. I don’t do my brows. But I do thread it. So, using this as a highlighter really gives prominence to the brows. The color payoff is good and it does have staying power. The most common use for it is to use it on the waterline to get an ‘awake’ look. But am not much into that. Anyways, I did like the product itself, just wish it was black in color :P.

iHerb Haul #10 – Skincare products & more!

Hi guys!

Here is my recent haul from the best online shopping site ever, iHerb!.

iHerb haul

1) Andalou Naturals Lift & Firm Cream – You will find this product in one of my previous hauls. That time though, I had bought it for my brother. Recently he raved about it to me and so I had to get it for myself. This cream has Hyaluronic Acid, DMAE and fruit stem cell complex (Apple / Grape). The main ingredient in it is certified organic Aloe Vera and also has Argan & Jojoba oils. This product is supposed to help with diminishing the appearance of fine lines & wrinkles, fade hyperpigmentation and improve overall texture for a visibly lifted, firmer complexion.

Andalou Naturals

I found it to be extremely hydrating and nourishing. It imparts a soft, supple feeling. It’s white in color, has a light Vanilla like scent and has a lovely, creamy texture. A little comes a long way. It’s meant to be used in the daytime. Though not shown here, I bought two of this, the other one a repeat purchase for bro.

Price – $19.96 (Approx AED 73.32) for a tub containing 50 ml.

2) Andalou Naturals Night Repairing cream– Since I bought the day cream, I decided to check out the night cream too, as it’s a known fact that when you get products from the same range, it goes well together, works hand in hand and helps you achieve your goal in a lesser amount of time. This product contains certified organic Aloe Vera, Cacao butter, Hyaluronic Acid, Rosehip oil, Evening Primrose oil, Avocado oil and more. The Resveratrol & CoQ10 in it works as antioxidants, to stimulate circulation, slow cellular damage and speedy healthy cell renewal for improved skin texture.

Andalou Naturals

This cream has a balm like texture and is very light. It has a chocolatey smell, which I really liked. A little goes a long way with this product too. It sinks in really fast leaving skin looking healthy and slightly dewy.

Price – $19.96 (Approx ) for a tub containing 50 ml.

Based on my experience with both these products I would definitely recommend you the Andalou Naturalsbrand. Also, I preferred it because it is vegan, cruelty free, paraben free, sulphate free, Non- GMO & gluten free. When you use chemical free products, it really makes a wonderful difference in your skin. Both of these creams that I purchased are from their ‘Age Defying’ range and targets ‘Dry & Very Dry’ skin types.

3) Avocado oil by Now Solutions– I love this oil so much since it’s multi purpose. I use it both as a nourishing face oil in my night time skin care routine and as a hydrating oil for my dry hair. This is a repeat purchase. Only difference though, is that last time, I had bought a smaller bottle (118 ml) while this time, it’s a larger one (473 ml).

Avocado oil

Price – $12.22 (Approx AED 44.89) for a bottle containing 473 ml.

4) Nubian Heritage Indian Hemp & Tamanu Deep Treatment Masque– Since I have dry hair, I wanted to try a product like this one. Funny enough, I don’t use it as a masque but as an overnight leave-in conditioner. The actual usage of it is to work it into damp hair from roots to end, cover hair with plastic cap for 45 mins and then to rinse off. However, I simply work it into my hair from the middle part until the very tips and leave it overnight. Next day when I wash my hair, it feels soft and manageable.

Nubian Heritage

It is white in color and has a thick texture. I first rub it in between both my hands, warm it up just a bit that way and massage it into the hair. This mask contains great ingredients such as Tamanu oil, Monoi oil, nutrient-rich Garlic extract and Bamboo to fortify hair. This is made for dry, textured and damaged hair. Overall, it’s a nice masque but not one I would urge you to buy because my expectations were really high for this product and it falls short of it.

Nubian Heritage

Price – $11.99 (Approx AED 44.04) for a tub containing 340 gms.

5) Hyaluronic Acid Firming Serum by Now Solutions– I was looking for a serum that hydrates well but doesn’t cost a lot. So, I chose this one. It’s supposed to naturally reduce appearance of fine lines.

Hyaluronic Acid Serum

I love the runny texture of this product. A little goes a looong way. On application, it feels like my skin just drinks it up, leaving it hydrated. It has this extremely refreshing scent. It reminds me of the smell of the leaf of lemon tree. I would like to say this could be a cheaper version of Mad Hippie’s Exfoliating serum, which I have reviewed earlier. No doubt their ingredients are worlds apart but am comparing just the texture and feel of the products.

I love any product that comes with a pump because it’s convenient and mess-free. So, I was delighted to see a pump on this one. However, I was surprised to see that there is no tube inside the bottle. On reading it’s back side, I understood that it uses an airless pump. So, you gotta shake the bottle, then pump to get rid of excess air and then product is dispensed out. If not, shake again. The base rises each time you pump. But I rather prefer a bottle with a pump/tube mechanism. But still, I love this product so much!. I HIGHLY recommend it!. Also, it’s paraben free, cruelty free and gluten free.

Price – $11.04 (Approx AED 40.55) for a bottle containing 30 ml.

6) Badger Beard Balm – I got this for my brother since of late he is into grooming his beard. According to him, it’s a nice product and he would recommend it. It is a cruelty free product.

Badger Beard Balm

Price – $14.39 (Approx AED 52.86) for a tin containing 56 gms.

Discounts and Shipping

iHerb has introduced something new. A loyalty program!. After each purchase, 10% of your bill total (excluding shipping charges) is placed in your iHerb account. It has a validity of 60 days. Next time you purchase within this time frame, this amount is deducted from your bill total!. For this purchase of mine, I got $9.76 (Approx AED 35.85) :).

Since Andalou Naturals was one of the ‘Brands of the Week’ at the time of my purchase, I got an extra 20% off it, thus saving $11.97 (Approx AED 43.97) on three products!

The shipping via DHL was amazingly fast and it reached me from US to UAE in just 3 days. Gotta love how fast DHL’s service is. Shipping cost me $8 (Approx AED 29.38), since iHerb had a special offer running that month that no matter how much ever the weight is of the package, you can get it shipped for a flat rate of $8. There really is no other site that offers you so much value!.

Review : Banjara’s Skin +ve Beauty Cream!

Hey guys,

Banjara’s is quickly becoming a favorite (Indian) brand of mine. On my recent shopping trip to Navaratna Hypermarket (Moonnupeediga, Kerala), I was surprised to see that Banjara’s has a product called ‘Skin +ve Beauty cream’. I definitely wanted to give it a try and decided to buy it.

Banjara's Beauty cream

First of all it’s packaging is very attractive. The golden colored pack has pomegranates pictured on it and one lone pomegranate seed which looks so real.

The tube has a nozzle that dispenses only a slight amount of product on a single press. The cream is a baby pink colored one. It’s consistency is that of a serum – runny & gets absorbed super fast into the skin. It has a really light, pleasant scent to it. It contains pomegranate actives and has an SPF of 15. It is supposed to repair, protect & hydrate the skin.

Banjara's Beauty cream

It immediately imparts a healthy, flawless look on application. I love it’s consistency. Sometimes I just wear this cream alone when going out. No other makeup. This cream would act as a great, moisturizing base to makeup for sure.

Key ingredients in this product are Olive oil, Glycerin, Yashad Bhasma, Pomegranate fruit extract, Vitamin E, Wheat Germ oil, Vitamin A & Provitamin B5.

Price : Rs 50 (AED 2.78) or a tube containing 20 gms

Pomegranate is a great antioxidant. I love how my skin feels wearing it. I highly recommend you to try it. The tube contains 20 gms only and depending on your usage, will last you upto 2.5 weeks.

Review : December 2015 Glambox!

Hey guys,

Being a mom is keeping me busy literally 24/7!. That’s why my reviews are being kept pending :(. So, though late, here are my thoughts on December’s Glambox.

December Glambox

1) L’occitane Verbena soap with Shea butter – This is my first time trying a soap by L’occitane. It is extra gentle and has a beautifully pleasant citrus scent. It lathers just the right amount. Majority of the ingredients in it are organic. It comes in an eco friendly packaging, which is great. This is a full size product, being 100 gms. I really loved it.

L'occitane soap

2) Bee Venom mask by Abeeco – Bee venom’s usage in skincare is creating quite the ‘buzz’. Apparently bee venom is nature’s botox!. It fools your skin to think it has been stung by a bee and blood is sent rushing to that area, which in turn enhances the production of collagen & elastin, thus making the skin look plump & youthful. Prolonged use will help in anti-aging and getting rid of fine lines. Since the dosage of bee venom in such products is less, it doesn’t actually sting your skin.

Bee venom

I have been eyeing a pretty popular product which has bee venom in it. But it’s price had me doubting whether to invest in it or not. So imagine my surprise when I saw this product in the box. Finally am getting to try out a product with bee venom in it!.

The verdict?. I freaking love it!. Even from the very first use I could tell a difference. It instantly tightens the pores thus making the skin look super smooth. Also, skin feels so soft. This Abeeco product is multi purpose. It can either be used as a mask or a night cream. If using as a mask, you can apply it and wash it off after 20 mins. If using as a cream, just apply and leave it overnight. I haven’t used it as a mask because obviously it feels so wrong to wash off such a wonderful product after just 20 mins. Lol 😀 .

It has a light scent & a lovely, not-so-thick, creamy consistency. It spreads easily so a little goes a long way. Before trying such a product, a patch test is highly recommended to make sure you aren’t allergic to it. The sample came in a bottle with a convenient pump, containing 15 gms. This product is paraben free & contains Lavender oil, Jojoba oil & Manuka oil. This is made in New Zealand with premium local bee venom. Now I know I should definitely invest in bee venom products..

3) Parachute Gold – This is Parachute’s latest variant. This coconut oil is golden in color. It smells so divine just like home made coconut oil. The sample contains 50 ml which is a great size to try out. I been using this for a while and quite like it.

Parachute Gold

4) FreshLook Colorblends contact lens – I am super excited about this product. I got it in the color Pure Hazel, which is one of those colors which look very flattering on Indian skintone.

Pure Hazel contact lens

However, I can’t review this yet since this is a one time use only lens and I would like to wear it for some special occasion. So I will review this in a separate post in the near future.

5) Misa Nail Lacquer – It’s the first time am hearing about the brand Misa. This nail polish is such a fantastic shade of red, I am so in love with it. It’s the shade 229 Red Pumps in the Nordstrom. Since it’s a nail lacquer, the sheen it leaves on the nails is absolutely gorgeous. The sample came in a 8 ml bottle. Misa is free of chemicals & toxins and all their colors are 5-free, durable, long lasting & easy to remove. For me, it lasted a week without chipping. I love it’s glossy look. It’s a brand you must try!

Nordstrom

6) Pure Organic Shea Butter by Shea Butter DXB – A little container full of unrefined Shea butter which is made in Africa but packaged in UAE. Shea butter is a multi purpose product. I am currently using it as a lip balm and also on my heels to prevent them from cracking. Since it’s unrefined and has no additives at all, it has a very earthy scent. I really like this product.

Unrefined Shea butter

7) Biore Deep Cleansing Charcoal Pore Strips – I got 2 of these in the box stuck inside a brochure which lists all the benefits of the product & shows the Biore range of Charcoal incorporated products. This easy to use charcoal strips are supposed to draw out & trap skin impurities for a deep clean for all your pores. As a proof you can see white pore plugs on the black strip (disgusting yet oddly satisfying!).

Biore pore strips

Biore pore strips

As per my own experience, as soon as you apply the strip, there is a tingling sensation. On removing it after the required 10 minutes, I found that the skin around my nose feels extremely smooth. I didn’t find any white pore plugs on my strips, but that could because I have a pretty fantastic (not boasting) skincare routine that helps keep my skin clean.

Onto vouchers & brochures

Vouchers

● A flyer about Shea Butter DXB which when presented at their store, will make you eligible to get 2 Jars of Shea butter for AED 200

● Dermalogica gift voucher of 150 Dhs off towards any of their 60/75 minute services

● Brochure about Abeeco Bee venom mask listing all it’s ingredients & their benefits.

● A card about Misa

● Discount code which gives 25% off at I Saw It First, a shopping site.

● A gorgeous brochure about Parachute Gold

I am absolutely in love with December’s Glambox. It had the right mix of products be it skincare related, hair related or even bath related. Why don’t you look at the three subscription options and subscribe to Glambox today itself!.

Review : November 2015 Glambox!

Hiya guys!

Though late, here are my thoughts on November’s Glambox. First of all, this time, the box came with an outer covering that has a floral print on it. It is so feminine and gorgeous ♡. Next thing I love the most is that except for a perfume sample, this box is all about skincare and you guys know how much am crazed about skincare products!

Glambox

Glambox

1) Bioderma Hydrabio serum – I was beyond happy when I saw a full sized Bioderma product in the box, that too a serum, one of my most favorite skincare products. This serum is for ‘very dehydrated, sensitive’ skin. It’s very light weight and gets absorbed into the skin easily. A little goes a long way. It is aptly named as Hydrabio. It is intensely hydrating and leaves your skin looking plump and soft. I use it during day & night just before my moisturizer. It comes in a tall bottle with a convenient to use pump. The packaging is in such a way that you get a sneak peek of the brightly colored blue lid. It’s so pretty. It contains 40ml and is worth AED 210!

Hydrabio serum

2) Oils of Life from The Body Shop – This is an intensely revitalizing facial oil. It is light weight, non greasy and has a lovely scent to it. I apply it every day just after serum, at night. It came in a tiny bottle with a dropper. Each time I just use 5 drops and as such I am still not done with this 7 ml sample!. The bottle is designed so well that once this oil gets over, am just gonna refill the bottle with one of my favorite skincare oils like an Argan oil and pop it in my travel skincare bag.

TBS Oils of Life

3) Dadi’ Oil – This is a nail treatment / skincare oil. It is 95% certified organic & contains high purity avocado oil, jojoba oil, extra virgin olive oil, natural vitamin E & 21 naturally derived essential oils that give this oil a fantastic scent. This is the first time that am owning a nail treatment oil. It’s color looks just like olive oil. I use it every night. Since it comes in a little bottle that looks like a nail polish’s bottle, application is really easy. I then massage it into my cuticles. Recently, after using a really strong nail polish remover, couple of my nails started flaking. This has never happened before and I really freaked out. But this oil healed it in just 2 days!. I highly recommend this product. It came in a tiny bottle containing 3.75ml.

Dadi oil

4) Perfume samples from Rasasi – I love how these samples are packaged. Boruzz is Rasasi’s latest Oudh collection. These are just so stunning!. I love both samples. Jazeebiyat Musk Tabriz is a stronger scent, clearly a masculine one. Lamaat Musk Tabriz is a softer oud scent, a feminine choice. Oud scent lovers will definitely need to check out this collection by Rasasi because it captures the oud scent so beautifully. Each of these samples came in a little spray bottle containing 1 ml.

5) Bioderma samples – Oh how I love skincare samples even if they come in tiny tubes. It’s perfect to trial out a product before deciding to invest in it’s full size.

Bioderma samples

● Hydrabio Creme – What a fantastic cream that can be used both at daytime or night. It’s rich, hydrating and makes your skin feel so soft and perfectly textured. Not even kidding when I say it’s almost like a primer. It simply smoothens out your skin, giving it a perfect look. Definitely a product worth buying in full size. The sample came in a tube containing 5 ml.

● Hydrabio Serum – Same as the full sized bottle that came in this box. I first used up this sample and then started on the bottle. The sample came in a tube containing 5 ml.

● Hydrabio Perfecteur – This is a day cream with SPF 30. It’s rose colored and is a radiance booster. It’s a lovely cream that gets easily absorbed. The sample came in a tube containing 5ml.

Overall, am loving the Hydrabio range of products. All of them are so intensely moisturizing and hydrating ♡
