Today’s review is that of a children’s book called Hello, Bali written by Giselle Shardlow and illustrated by Emily Gedzyk. More about them:
Giselle Shardlow draws from her experiences as a teacher, traveler, mother, and yogi to write her yoga-inspired children’s books. This story was inspired by her unforgettable travels to Bali and her desire to share these experiences with her daughter. She lives in Boston with her husband and daughter.
Emily Gedzyk is a world traveler who draws her artistic inspiration from the places she’s visited and the people in her life. She hopes to continue her journeys to new, exciting places and to teach everyone she meets that it’s never too early or too late to go out into the world on their own adventures.
Summary: Energize your body and mind with this yoga island adventure book for young children!
Say good day to the magical island of Bali! Join Anamika, one of the Yoga Kids, as she travels with her family to Bali, Indonesia. Surf like a surfer, dance like a Balinese dancer and sit like a monkey.
The book includes a list of Kids Yoga Poses, Map of Bali, Basic Indonesian Phrases, and a Parent-Teacher Guide with tips on creating a successful yoga experience. This yoga book for toddlers and preschoolers (ages 2 to 5) is more than a storybook, but it’s also a unique experience for children.
It’s my first time reviewing a children’s book. The book cover is cute and sunny!. It will catch the attention of toddlers for whom this book is designed.
The book follows a kid called Anamika, who travels to Bali with her family and her experiences there. The author has taken care to keep the wordings very simple and sentences short.
More than being just a children’s book and looking cute, this one is very educational. It teaches basic yoga poses, ones that kids can practice on their own. I myself am not knowledgeable when it comes to yoga and I found it very interesting to read.
The illustrations really help too. I should say Emily has done a great job. There are several but here are two of my favorites :
They are just so gorgeous and colorful. It shows various scenes of Bali. These which show a Balinese dancer and a gorgeous waterfall are my favorites.
This book also tries to teach you basic Indonesian language :
Such a fun way of learning a new language!. This book also contains a Parent – Teacher guide. This is a perfect book for parents to read to their kids. It teaches kids to be active and learn new things.
I give this book 5 out of 5 which by Goodreads standards mean ‘It was amazing’!
